Factory alarm on 1996 GSX. No matter what button on the remote that I use
the alarm goes off when I open the door.

So the car is unlocked. Sitting there. I open the door, the alarm goes off.

I can get in and start it, turn on the headlights.
Shut off the engine, turn off the headlights, the alarm is on before I get out of the car.

Driving me crazy and cannot do anything to get this to stop.

Thanks Wiseman. We have taken the wire off the horn behind the battery.
The lights do the flashing still. Taking the light relay out of the maint
underhood fusebox prevents headlights form working.

There is a panel with a few relays inside under left of driver foot well.
Next to the inside fusebox.

I removed a relay there that was supposed to be for the alarm system.

My sense of this problem, after reading lots of posts, is that plenty of
people have this problem.

And we really hoped to repair it as we want an alarm system that works.

If you want to disable the headlights flashing due to the alarm (but keep them normally still working), unplug the diode B-02. It is an orange casing plug above the interior fusebox and on my 99 it is taped to another plug. It has 3 wires: red, green-black, blue. This will also prevent the normal horn from also beeping with the alarm.

The theft alarm horn relay is shown here (only operates theft alarm horn which you took the wire off): http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=107898&d=1269647021

Your stock alarm is probably due to a stuck, disconnected, or shorting sensor. Check all of them listed in the diagrams (2gb dsm electrical Backup Manual p. 319-321).

Try this first - Throw ground to the following highlighted wire to disable the alarm completely....
