Ok, I just bought a 95 gst He has a decent amount of mods to it. Including a s-afc... The air/fuel gauge is maxed out all the time and the check engine light is on... I was thinking he might not have it tuned right or the o2 sensor is bad???? Looking for idea's............ I tried searching but it said I was not authorized or something like that.... Sorry if the info is already out there....

It came with the car, I plan on getting ride of it just wondering about why it would be high all the time... Any sugg. on a wide band though....

A/F gauges are strange creatures. They are really not good for much unless you like blinky lights. But a gauge that doesn't move at all usually means your O2s are not cycling (bad O2 sensor).

My A/F gauge will stay Lean at idle, then move up to Stoich once I'm moving, so I think you're okay there.

As the previous poster said, best way to read your AF ratio is via Wideband. Don't put much stock in the blinky light display ;)

Definately take the car down and have the code read. That'll tell you a lot. You might also look into purchasing a pocketlogger. www.pocketlogger.com Invaluable tool for diagnostics.

As for the A/F meter, no one has bothered to ask what kind is in the car. It may actually be a wideband. What kind of gauge is it?

Also A/F sensors do not read accurately until the engine is warm, so at start-up you will always get bad readings.

Oh yeah, and FILL OUT YOUR MEMBER PROFILE. Especially the vehicle info, the rest is up to you.

I used a Pocketlogger/S-AFC combo for a long time, and it worked out great for me.

If you don't have the funs for a wideband - then the Pocketlogger should be your next purchase, for your cars sake :)

If you don't have a logger yet then go get the codes read at a repair shop or get them done for free at Autozone (well in Mounain Home, AR you can anyways). Your next mod, scense you have an S-AFC, should be a pocket logger and software so you can tell what's going on inside that car!

My car did the same thing yours is, this what it was:

My check engine light came on a while back and my car seemed to be running like butt, so I checked what code it was with my logger! I don't remember the actual code, but it was a waste gate actuator malfunction. So I was like SWEET! I looked at the waste gate actuater, nothing wrong, so I followed all the vacuum lines, nothing wrong! Then I checked the BCS and the sensor was barely unplugged WTF, so I plugged it in and then the car died:confused:. Then I started it up again and didn't notice anything wrong! Toke it for a run and the car ran great again. The check engine light hasn't came back on so... :D!

Oh ya! Try to find out what the mods are on your car so you can list them on your profile! It will help other people out when you need another question to be answered.

alright so I think the s-afc isn't even hooked up all the way. I have no intake presure reading at all.. also While I was looking under the hood the sensor plug for the thermostat is not even there.......
