kirtland,
Ok, i would like to get either a air fuel gauge or an egt. Im not running a turbo yet, have not decided, might do nos. Anyways, Im putting on a test pipe this week and a first gen 60mm throttle body. I would like to see whats going on before and after. Is an egt nessary on a non turbo? Will the air fuel gauge give me a good idea of what going on? Ive heard bad and good things about both. From what ive gathered the egt is better, but its x2 the $ of the a/f gauge.

Until you run more of an O2 sensor than the stock DSM unit, an AF gauge will be all but worthless. The information the ECU is asking the O2 sensor to supply just isn't detailed enough to drive an AF with any useful result. Look into broadband oxygen sensors and see why ($400) things are set up as they are.

EGT would be unnecessary on a normally-aspirated motor.

i just got both. the a/f is a bit annoying, at half throttle the o2 just cycles so the lights just bounce back and forward like a ping pong ball. it gives you an ok reading at full throttle tho. if your planning on running n2o egt wont hurt. or if you plan on getting a s-afc an egt will be nice to have. i dont have my probe in my manifold yet, but everything else is hooked up.
