umm ok, but what I am asking is the turbo not water cooled? Or does it have to have a coolant line run deferently than stock?

The turbos have a dry bearing housing unless its ball bearing or you request otherwise.

I didnt see any plug in my kit to block off the line??

Are you talking about the line in the water pipe, or the line coming from the thermostat housing?

My kit did not come with any plugs for the coolant lines. The cost for the 3/8 NPT brass plug is like a dollar. No big deal. My kit did however come with a fitting to block off the 2g oil line at the filter housing, but that must have changed since apparently they supply and oil housing feed line now rather than the head-feed line that I got with my kit.

Im 1 town over from Schuamburg.

It might be possible, but you wouldnt save a whole lot and it is a bit more of a headache to piece it together. Lets start with the base AGP price of $1650 for a 57 trim t3/t04e/stage III/.63 AR turbo setup.

from cheapturbos.com:

Turbo: $549

360 degree thrust bearing (included in AGP setup) $75

Tial 38mm wastegate: $239

From sfp.net (south florida performance)
manifold: $475 flanged for HKS WG (I'm sure they will flange for tial if you want, probably at extra cost)

Subtotal: $1338

Difference: $312

Now, you still need a CUSTOM 02 housing, a dump tube, the oil feed AND drain line, various gaskets, and shipping costs. I can't speak for AGP, but my kit did not include any shipping costs. I also got EXCELLENT customer service from them. I don't think you can get all that for less than $312 dollars unless you are a fabricator or know someone who is.

Since each manifold/02housing/dump tube is made individually, everything bolted up perfectly on my car. In order for me to change to another manifold, it would have affected the placement of the dumptube and 02 housing, respectively. Remember this when piecing together your own system. Also remember that AGP now includes a stainless steel 02 housing and dumptube.

**I used Cheapturbos.com as an example, but would never reccomend a company that uses yahoo and AOL to run their business. Word through the grapevine is that a teenager working out of his parents garage runs Cheapturbo.com

If you want a 50 trim like most people do that 1650 turns into 1750. Im by no means saying you should not grab the agp kit. Because who wants to fool with chasing down parts and dealing with 500 different shops. But if you want to build your own full garrett 50 trim can be done for under 1400.

Oil lines are 50 each and you can have a 4 bolt o2 done for about 150 bucks. The 38mm tial is available for $215 and adfx has a very nice header for 399. but who am i to talk i just spent almost 3K for my turbo setup and i had to get a new fluidyne on top of that:mad:

I would reccomend the AGP kit just for the simple reasoning of great customer service. Ben and Kevin are some of the nicest vendors I've dealt with, and they answered all my questions quickly. To me that is worth a few extra bucks; you get what you pay for.

Yup and regardless if agp puts a sfp header, garrett turbo and tial gate in a box. or jeff and acme turbo its still the same parts.

The parts might be the same, but the peace of mind is not. Would YOU buy a turbo from a business with an AOL email address? Sure it might be the same exact turbo you get from AGP, but when the "other" business packs up and changes email accounts, drops their phone number and disappears, what then?

If all you are concerned with is the bottom line dollar amount, then sure, spend your own time piecing together a kit and hope everything lines up correctly and hope that nothing needs to be returned. If your time is valuable and you don't want to piece it together for yourself, and you have some questions about this particular setup on your car, then go with a company that knows our cars and the many different turbos you can use with them. Thats why I chose AGP. There are other turbo companies out there that are just as good as AGP. I can only speak about AGP because that is the only company I have ever bought a turbo from.

Is there a reason you constantly try to contradict me?

Dude please take of your "i own a dsm and the world is different for me blinders". many many many internet parts shops have AOL accounts that's not limited to just selling car parts. I have personally purchased stuff from online shops with AOL accounts, and even on ebay.

when the "other" business packs up and changes email accounts, drops their phone number and disappears, what then?

I can name a few dsm shops that have done that and much worse with as you say *real* e-mail accounts, and im sure you can to. There are exception to the rule, but please don't use the exceptions to define every situation.

So i guess your above post about AOL shops packing up and disapperaing was baseless?

Is there a reason you constantly try to contradict me?

Actually im agreeing with you. The guys at Agp are awesome. They have always been very helpful to me. There customer service is on par with the best shops around. All I simply said is if you wanted to build it yourself it could be done for less. That applies to just about anything does it not?
