Well guys after ive been searching the forums...ive been looking at an aftermarket UICP w/2g elbow and LICP with a larger compresser outlet pipe....Do these UICP's really make a difference on a midly modded car? Will i feel a difference in performance with these? People who got em post up...lemme know wuts the deal with these.

well there will be less of a chance to have a boost leak.... performance wise ur turbo should spool a little faster it will be louder and ur bov will be louder

it justify to spend 150+ bucks on a UICP + LICP? Or save for something better?

i belive that you will get some improvement over stock simply because the flow should be better since its hard and there wont be any protrusions on the inside of the pipes. Faster flow = faster spool

hear great things about those david brode IC pipes...dejontool as well but they look a lil expensive....decisions decisions...

Personally, I wouldn't waste my money. If your going to spend almost 200 bucks, you might as well save up 200 more, buy a JRC FMIC and get some pipes made for it. I've seen guys pull off a front mount in under 350 bucks. You will definitely notice a difference here. You may notice a sound difference, but most likely not a power difference.

I will have to second that. The money spent on the nice expensive uicp's could be put toward a better mod-FMIC :thumb:

thats exacly y im hesistated on buying an UICP. Man if JRC just made a piping kit for his FMIC...id buy it in a heartbeat.

The entire stock intercooler setup (including piping) is one big restriction, save your money and upgrade it all at once. This is what I plan on doing in the near future. You can build yourself a good quality FMIC for about $400 these days.

If you hve access to a welder, the piping can easily be fabricated. All the bends can be purchased from jeg's, or you can get them off of ebay.

I bought lower and upper ic piping for my stock setup. I wish i didnt. If i could go back i would've waited and get a fmic with short route piping. thats what im gonna end up doing but its like doing something twice. dont buy pipes now, save more and get a fmic with pipes or build your own pipes.

well personally ive seen about 3 dsms run faster then 12.5 on the stock side mount so unless youre running a big nasty turbo and shooting for the elevens the factory side mount w upgraded pipes will work beautiful

Dont waste close to $200 on upgraded pipes for the stock IC, just save for a FMIC KIT.

Check out www.extremeintercoolers.com

they sell nice street kits for $675 that include all new piping from the turbo outlet to the throttle body.

The stock IC sucks, It can barely do its job when its 40* outside, much less when its 90*.

Hard IC pipes will make a difference on the stock SMIC. And you can reuse the UICP if you buy the JRC core becuase the routing will most likely go through where the side mount used to be. The LICP is another story, that will have to change for just about any fmic other than a greddy style or a top to bottom style core.

I would get just the UICP for now if you plan on getting a fmic soon. And you can always sell what you have on the trader.

If you can make your own pipes that will help a lot. It is very cheap to do. I made my own and I cannot weld, just find a shop that can weld everything together after you mock them all up. There are some good articles in the tech section on how to make your own stuff.

P.S. I had right around $325 in my FMIC setup using the JRC core and making my own pipes, including powdercoating.

you will definitely feel some performance gains once you install them if you don't think so take off your upper intercooler pipe and you'll see what I mean is highly restrictive and made of plastic but like the other guys said it all depends on your budget and what you want to spend either way you go you'll feel some gains
