wanting to buy black carpet for my 95 gst, which after market company fits best? is it available through the dealer? was black carpet a factory option?

i buy from StockInteriors.com i believe i paid 129 shipped for my carpet and with all molded carpets its the same exact mold of the car all u have to do is trim the carpet to fit but its no big deal

yea im in the process of switching to all black, didnt know if the black carpet was even available 95-99 from the factory,if it was an option id order it from a dealor in a heart beat, but since i dont think it was im looking to get an aftermarket black carpet just was wondering which company was best fitament wise and quality

looks nice deffinantly an option for me, what did u use? im just concerned about it fading or wearing off,and looking blotchy, also dont know how it would act if it got wet

If done properly, there wouldn't be any issues at all except the the residue left over that may come off.

I have done both my Talon and Eclipse and neither one has faded. Never had one problem even when wet. Here's the steps in order. Don't be cheap as it's not expensive to begin with.

Materials:

- Gloves
- Large Tub
- Garden Hose
- Simple green/ Purple Power
- Rit Dye 6 Bottles (Walmart $3 a piece)
- Carpet brush
- Salt

1. Remove carpet from the car
2. Clean with garden hose and simple green/purple power. Scrub with carpet brush real good.
3. Rinse the carpet off real good.
4. Let it dry real good in the sun. ( I vacuumed it first to speed up the process.)

At this point your carpet should look damn near new if you did a good job.

5. Get your big tub, trash can or whatever your using.
6. Fill it up with the hottest water you can get. I used the washing machine and hooked a hose up to the hot water side.
7. Add dye and salt, lots of salt as this it what really helps the dye absorb.(DON'T FORGET THE SALT)
8. Mix everything up.
9. Spray your carpet down with water before putting it in the dye.
10. Let it sit for at least and hour and a half, stirring occasionally.
11. Remove and rinse with cold water until the water gets clear. This takes a while.
12. Let it air dry. I did not vacuum, just air dry.
13. Enjoy

Note* This works with the front floor mats to. But not the rear or the hatch carpet.

seems simple enough, i just shampooed mine yesterday so it should b clean enough i would think, where did you get a tub big enough to hold ## carpet? also how much salt do you add in? i was thinkin a big trash can from depot and a big bag of salt? yes ? no? LOL i just dont wanna mess it up ### my carpets in decent shape:D

so you cant dye the rear trunk mat?

I bought a Rubbermaid trash can from Walmart. 20 or 30 gallons cant remember right now. Just big enough to fit your carpet in. I used table salt, not bagged salt. Buy it at the grocery store, I bought the big one its about the size of a peanut butter jar.. I poured about half of the container in the dye mix.

And No! You cant dye the hatch mat. I have tried with no success. It's much easier to go to a fabric store and buy some black fabric. I think I used Fleece material, Not positive though and glue it to the original one with healiner spray glue. Then just cut the excess off. Looks great and cheap also.

Just ask if you need more assistance.

yea im still undecided what route i wanna go ### i deffanantly am against painting any my plastics black, just ### once it starts to scratch up it looks bad, unless they made every peice of plastic in the car black from the factory i dont know about LOL:confused:
