I'm going to install a adjustable fuel pressure regulator in the morn, I allready installed a fuel pressure gauge. I am still running the stock pump(walbro 255 will be here wensday)

Will I need a logger or afc before I hook up the afpr? What do I set the fuel pressure at
(it reads 40psi now "stock").

What are the benefits of a afpr with or without the walbro 255 ??????????. I am not even hitting fuel cut with the mods I have and my a/f gauge reads normal rich at wot.

Set fuel pressure same as stock. Set again after the whinebro is installed. AFPR does nothing for you with stock pump. With the 255 it'll keep you from losing control of the pressure.

I have a hard wired + and - wires going to my wbro 255 hp fuel pump and have absoutly no probelms with the stock FPR/stock fuel system. You will need a FPR anything over stock injectors to tune the car eazyer with an SAFC.

So without bigger injectors I should not even bother hooking it up, hell I should ebay it and buy somthing I need like a UICP or a gm maft. I do not know what brand my AFPR is but it looks awsome.

Yea I would get a 2g mass air set up with a SAFC , hard intake pipe, and a nice UICP.
If you plan on going bigger boost in the future keep the regulator because with bigger injectors it will run rich at Idle. The FPR is only nessary when running bigger injectors so it will run corectly at Idle and off Idle response.

Thanks a lot for the info, I am going to ebay the AFPR, Like I said I have no idea what brand it is, it says MS & HK on the blue and red fittings, the actuall reg looks stainless even polished alluminum, I am going to figure how to post a pic of it soon. Thanks

Oh-yea I allready have a dejon tool hard intake pipe and that was the worst mod I ever bought, hell I can not even get the thing to stay on.

what part wont stay on? I have heard problems with the coupler sleaves sliding off the pipe. What end wont hold??

Go to a good known welder with the pipe and have him weld a small bead aound the outside of the pipe were the coupler clamp goes. The bead will stop the coupler sleave from coming off by providing a stop point for the clamp (seal) to rest against so it will never pull off untill you loosen the clamp. .

Keep the afpr. TSIfreek may not have a problem with it, but that doesn't mean you definitely won't either. I had a friend who would not buy an afpr to go with his 255 because he believed he didn't need it. He was just going to tune out any overrun with his afc. However, you can't (which my friend found out) because the overrun condition is not consistant. You can log it and tune it to run right, then next time you get in the car it'll be off again and your car will run poorly. My friend finally got one and it helped him big time - one less variable in tuning his fuel trims = much less headache.

Also, big injectors doesn't equal the need for an afpr. Unlike what TSIfreek said, adjusting your fuel pressure will adjust your fuel trims across the entire rpm range - not just idle. If you're running rich at idle only, and your fpr is not overrun an afpr will do nothing for you. You may turn down the fuel pressure to get it to run a normal a/f ratio at idle, but it will also lean out your higher rpm range then.

Not consistant is right. My car would be at 40psi stock too when it first started, but go for a drive then stop at the light and have a look at it. Guess what, I just picked up 10psi and it would take a few minutes to bleed enough away to show back up as 40psi. I hooked up a gauge so I could watch it while I drove around (just a temp gauge) and the pressure would vary depending on how much vac or boost I was making. Normally at 0 vac my car picks up 10psi but after a hard run the fuel pressure would already be 10psi higher than normal (or 12 or 8 or whatever it felt) that it would end up being much higher than I thought.

Basically I was also under the impression that it was just fine, but it's not. If you have a 255pump and no AFPR your getting uneven fuel pressure unless for some reason your stock FPR is different than every other talon fpr out there. Just because your initial start up shows 40psi doesnt mean squat. Drive the car and give the pump a chance to really start to flow higher PSI with boost and it will not drop right down to 40psi afterwards.

I'm running a SARD afpr on my car with regular barbed fittings and standard fuel hose. It was much cheaper then the Aeromotive / Earls Fittings route and works just as good.

I am just stating what I ran into with my car and what advice I went with from AMS. I have only heard of others having drivability problems using bigger injectors.
Your motor will let you know if you are having fuel pressure problems right away. I say install the pump and see how the car drives.

The 255hp I bought off ebay still has not arrived,(tracking# says monday), anyway thanks for all this info, I will go ahead and install the afpr as soon as I figure out the intake and outgoing side, I am going to get picks on here today.

Again thank you so much for the replys, It would have sucked so bad if I ebayed it and then had to turn around and buy another. :thumb: :)
