I'm looking to replace my factory infinity 6.5 door speakers since I can't hear anything out of them (i think they are made to only work good with the factory amp).

I was thinking about Kenwood KFC-1651S they are like $25 shipped.

Anyone have any other suggestions on a good affordable pair of 6.5 inch speakers? Thanks!

It all depends on your goals. Would you be running them off an amp? Are you running these off the head unit? How much RMS wattage can your setup provide? Are the stock tweets still hooked up?
$25 for a pair of coax speakers is pretty damn low. I'm sure they'll play music.. but I would personally hold out for something nicer - even on a budget build.

I have a alpine headunit that bypasses the stock amp. So I'm just running off a headunit.

I have alpine h/u, but the spkrs sound weak with the 18w. I'm thinking about using an external amp to about 30w, but not sure if that will supply with the 'thump' I'm looking for. I thought about upgrading spkrs to components, but not that sure yet. I have narrowed them down to Infinity or Alpine. I really like Boston, but they don't have base.

I have the Infinity coponents in my car and they sound great. I have rewire the front left speaker though the wire got ate up by some mice. The only other thing I can say about my set up is i need a stronger head unit.

most people dont give expensive speakers they buy enough juice to really outshine the cheaper ones.. ive had people dumbfounded why my boss components amped with some cheap vr3 amp 70rms x 2, sounded better than their 150+ coax speaks needing to be amped but only using deck power..

my point is, if you are going to spend a lot of money on nice speakers, dont stop there and not get everything else to match up for it..

it's like buying a gtxxr turbo running low boost on stock injectors and crap..

go out there and listen to speakers yourself and make sure you ask if its being amped or just running off the deck, also realize those displays are in nice cabinets that have proper sealed enclosures.

I had sony xplodes and I didnt like them at all. I just upgraded to pioneer 3ways up front they work great and cheap I found them on amazon.com. I also really like my alpine head unit

I have rockford fosgate's for sale. 50 shipped bnib. PM me if your interested

picked up some nice alpine's from boost92awd. Thanks :)

You can also get for $30+taxes brand new pioneer speakers at circuit city. I got mine and im waiting to purchase a cd player to blast my new speakers.

I liked my Pioneer 6.5 4-ways. They were pretty cheap and work great!

Just put some el cheapo pioneers (from Walmart) in mine this past weekend, they sound better than factory and they are running off the factory amp and head unit. Do hold out for a better quality speaker though and get an oversized 6.5" I think the over sizes actually measure 6.75", they will fit better in the plastic cup in your doors.

Just an FYI - the front speakers on our DSMs are OVERSIZED 6.5" speakers a/k/a 6 3/4".

I'm sure true 6.5" can fit as well but you may need to custom make retaining rings.

I just last night replaced my 5+ year old front Pioneer's with the pair linked below but which may not be within your budget... They sound great with my system but I'm also not on the OEM radio for years now. I've got a Pioneer Premier DEH-P750MP head unit 50WX4 running the interior speakers directly along with a separate Pioneer GM-D8400M 300WRMS-1200W max amp running a 12" Kenwood KFCW-3011 1200W sub in a custom box. My rear speakers are 6X9 Pioneer premiers as well and the dash stock mids I replaced with Pioneer tweeters.

My front 6 3/4" speakers:

Pioneer USA - A-Series Speakers

I got 'em for $70 locally (Miami) but they are a little less on the net but with shipphing ended up about the same.
