My afc has been installed for about a year now and out of the blue I no longer get a display on the screen (cant see anything on screen). The weird thing is that the buttons still illuminate so I know it works. I tried to reground the ground wires and find a new source for the power wire ( straight to the battery) but yet still the same result I am confused has anyone experienced this ?

Hmmm, not good. My guess is since it worked for a year, and the buttons still light up, is that there is probably a small ribbon cable that attaches the lcd screen to the printed circuit board inside the safc. Maybe that has vibrated loose or broken. Either way I don't know if you can open up a safc. Don't know how easy it is to contact apexi for a possible repair/fix, or you might have to suck it up and get a new one. That suck, sorry to hear about it.

EDIT: I've also never heard of that happening before.

To get inside one all you have to do is remove the 4 small screws on the backside of it and you will see one circuit board connecting to the screen via a rectangular plug. Just maybe, it vibrated loose. Also on the backside of the afc cover, where you removed the 4 small screws, there should be a small rectangle foam attached to it which keeps all the internals snug.
Also, I think APEXI has a forum on their website for help.

Good luck
Steve

Common problem. Contact Apexi, though I am sure they won't offer to replace it. Seems to happen to quite a few. Some new, some aged.
