:dsm:i gots the neo and 780 injector am trying to do the tuning anybody has any idea if neo can handle 780 injector so far the tuning its going great i had 550 before and it was dyno tune by marco from magnus but i gots a lot of stuff done to my car during this winter so am upgrading i want to push about 400 hp and i want to do the tuning myself, and i got the maft translator, i probaly need to retune that too, anybody :dsm:

Anthing above 700cc are too big for an SAFC to control, you might want to just switch to a DSMLink. GL!!!!

780's are way to freakin' big for the SAFC. Base correction on those injectors is -40% just to hit the factory AFR. Not to mention that your timing will be so high, you'll probably blow something up. Throw in the stock injectors until you get something to tune those injectors with. Or, you can drop down to something smaller. I recommend nothing larger than 650's when using just the SAFC.

I don't recommend anything over 650's, but you might be able to get away with the 680's. It's hard to say, but you'll definitely need a logger to watch your timing. With 650's, running an AFR around 10.5:1, I was hitting about 22 degrees by redline to give you an example. Injectors any larger and/or an AFR leaner and you're going to be running more than 22 degrees. Starts getting pretty dangerous. :)

i just talked to marco and he says theres no problem tuning 780 with afc neo could marco be wrong , but u need to have the supporting mods what u guys think :)

I totally agree with Marcos, AFC have been proved to control bigger injectors i was running 880cc injectors and my car was idling fine with no issues i have been installing bigger injectors with AFC to re compensate fuel cut. Instead of adding fuel % you will mostly need to lower the fuel curve to a negative (-) percentage at lower RPM's, it all really depends on your turbo and mods on your engine. You should be ok with this setup it has been proven to work ask Marcos or any DSM guy that has been in the business for years. :thumb::dsm:

Don't believe me if you don't want to, I really don't care.

Mathematically, yes, the SAFC can compensate for injectors up to 900cc by maxing out it's +/-50% correction ability. At that point you're pulling 50% of the airflow before it even reaches the ECU.

So, let's say for example, that your pushing about 35lbs/min at 7,000rpm, which is about normal for a 16g at 22psi. This turns out to be 2.27g/rev of airflow passing through the motor. Using a stock map, the ECU will shoot for a target AFR of 9.5:1 and a maximum timing advance of 16 degrees.

Now let's go ahead and institute your huge correction factors. Running -50% on the SAFC and the ECU is going to be seeing 1.135g/rev of airflow and shooting for an AFR of about 10:1 and maximum timing advance of 28 degrees.

So, if you don't mind running 35lbs/min on a 16g at 22psi and getting 28 degrees of advance, then by all means, go right ahead. Like I said, I don't care if you listen to me or not, it's your car and you can do whatever you want.

I'm stuck w/ afc NEO as well... I got 550s though... but the problem is that I can't save more than 1 map setting on it, makes no sense that the 3rd gen AFC would not let you have at least 2 map settings...

A. Thats not true and B. he said he has MAF-T. Set your base MAF-T settings to 780's and move the selector to the size MAF you have and fine tune with the AFC. Everyone's too spoiled with Link now, and thinks its the only way to tune... Some of us dont have and extra grand to spend on a socketed Eprom and dsmlink. Good Luck! :thumb:

Bingo :thumb:

couldnt have said that any better, i get the same crap about using a sfmu and safc instead of going msns, i like the way you put it simple and to the point, we're not all made of money

And what about when you run 2 boost settings? Neo only allows 1 map setting...

Too bad you have to make that compromise for the added precision of the Neo. I figured 230 shipped for a neo was worth it when it would have cost me over 500 for a DSM Link setup. Should I be having doubts about buying the Neo now?
