i currently putting in aem ems its the first series and ive had a apexi savc-r sitting in the box for couple years should i just buy the aem boost sensor and just sell the avcr? or should i run it with the ems as my boost controller if thats possible?

^^^ What he said. I know some of the Evo guys like the AVC-R still and if you can't sell it and want to control boost electrically I believe you can use the solenoid from the AVC-R as I believe they both use a Mac valve but I could be wrong. Since you are FWD you could really benefit using gear based boost in the AEM so you are not putting on a smoke show. I personally am going to try the solenoid this year and if I don't like it I will just throw the hallman back in but if you have the solenoid already laying around just give it a shot. Worst case you dont like controlling boost that way and you throw a well proven Hallman MBC in there.

so so your saying just use the solonoid from the avcr and run the boost with the ems. thats the reason i bought it a long time ago was to adjust boost for first and second trying to prevent 1/4 mile smokeshow. should i just sell the whole unit and buy the aem solonoid or is the apex one somehow different or better. figure anyone who wants it would want all the pieces.

getting conflicting opinions donnie your saying u would install the avcr along with the aem ems and just rely on the avcr for adjusting boost? is that going to affect the ems in any way as far as boost contols on the ems?

"That avcr belongs in a car running an aem, as much as an safc."

Meaning, just as an safc doesn't belong in a car running an aem, neither does an avcr.

k got ya missing the doesnt threw me off and i had the afc in there and just took it out. guess i got alot of stuff to sell. just to be clear the two solonoids the one reccomended to install from aem and the apexi are the same type?

Yes they should be the same type of boost solenoid. If you have doubts just sell the entire AVC-R unit and purchase a solenoid from grainger http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/ING...J52?Pid=search This is the same solenoid used in AEM kits and their tru-boost kits. Only difference is that it doesn't have their sticker on it. Wire the solenoid into your factory boost solenoid wiring and adjust your wgdc's slowly. Gear based boost is going to be the ticket for you since your fwd so I really don't see any down side to this. I have to do some things differently to my 1g for gear based boost through AEM but for you is easy LOL. Aem is awesome just take your time and learn the software and you will find it is a power tool!

It makes it considerably easier to understand what you are writing. Thank you!

If you are running AEM EMS, either use an accurate manual boost controller like a Hallman Pro or a TurboSmart MBC, or use an electronic boost control solenoid with the AEM EMS. If you look on Ebay, there normally are "knockoff" AEM electronic solenoids for half the price and are composed of the same parts as the AEM brand.
