hi guys
i am at the point of putting in my clutch /flywheel/tranny(fwd)1G dsm
i have the act flywheel-act clutch(2600)-clutch fork-pivot bal- extended slave cilinder rod
and a new slave cilinder.
can i put this all together without any problems or did i forget something?
is there anything i need to considder with this clutch?

thanks in advance:thumb:

dont want to pull the tranny twice:cry:

Don't forget to add an OEM (or NSK plastic sleeved) throw out bearing. Also make sure grease the inputbshaft and pivot ball before everything goes together.

Did you make sure to have the flywheel stepped correctly (.608-.610")?

You should still have the flywheel step checked. Even though it is brand new, its not always correct. You don't HAVE to do this, but while its out, you might as well. Often times flywheels will come stepped at stock height (.612"), so its best to take a bit off for aftermarket clutches.

Most machinists I know around here would check it for free or dirt cheap. Make sure you go back there and watch to make sure its within your specifications so they don't dick you around.

The xact flywheels are stepped correctly from the factory, well atleast their supposed to be. I believe their .610 if I recall correctly. Are you sure about the extended slave rod? Usually their not recommended.

oke thanks
i will check the box see if there is any info about the step hight
about the extended slave rod? i read several topics about them that they are essential to get fully disengagement of the clutch
i dont know correct me if i am wrong
this is all new to me
thanks,:thumb:

its only needed if your have reuse your old fork and ball...it's like a bandaid fix.

anyway, If you do need more adjustment, you can always install if after the the clutch job is done

They are supposed to be, but I bought a 7-bolt XACT streetlite flywheel a year or two ago that was higher that it should be and required machining.

I figured they should be stepped properly as well, but after talking to Jon and Ming at TRE they said to double check as they are often off. I did, and sure enough it was off.

Its up to you, but its a percaution I would take.

Alright now you've got me worried that the xact flywheel I just bought won't have the correct step height, that they claim they have :D Guess I'll be checking that to be sure before I install it :thumb:

The one I got for my 6-bolt was within spec, but for some reason the 7-bolt one wasn't. Perhaps it was some fluke or a bad run of flywheels, but I'm glad I checked it anyways.

You should not have to get the XAct flywheel stepped. It comes to factory specs.

But if you have it off the car, it should not be hard to have a shop check it if it will make you feel better. Hell they probably won't charge you to throw a micrometer on it real fast.

A friend and I both bought the Xact flywheel and 2600 and installed them right out of the box. I have had mine for about a year and a half with 2 different motors and it shifts flawlessly everyday. My friend has had the same luck. We also put in new pivot ball, forks, and TOB at the same time as well.

I have never liked the extended rod. If all the other parts in the system are ok then it should not be needed. Like someone has already said it is a bandaid not a fix.

When I replaced a buddy's setup with a ACT Flywheel and 2600 Clutch we didn't have any problems. We did check the step height and it was dead on at .610". As for the extended slave rod, it is definately a bandaid fix at best. We originally didn't replace the pivot ball or throwout fork. However the new clutch just didn't feel right so he added the extended slave rod. It did fix the problem but after 3 months it started acting up again. We ended up just replacing the pivot ball and fork. A quick switch back to the stock slave rod and still pulling hard 14 months later.
