My friend and I installed an act 2600 w/ streetlite flywheel yesterday. I started driving it today and I drove about 20 miles each way on the interstate (kept it under 3k).

Anyway, towards the end of the trip, I noticed a noise whenever I left off the gas. It sounded like a growling or similiar coming from the engine, and was more pronounced towards the end of the trip. It's definately not a whine coming from the rear. It's not really noticeable as you're basically idling along, but as you gain some speed you can definately hear it.

We put in 1 QT of syncromesh and about .66 quarts of the lucas stuff since they only had one bottle of syncromesh. Manual said tranny holds about 2.

Any ideas on what it could be?

cool :thumb: I added an extra quart of fluid, but it didn't seem to help. I'll quit using the tranny to slow down for awhile.

It could be because of your flywheel. You have less rotating mass and if you use your gearbox to decelerate you are going to slow down faster which will creating a faster pitch change as your rpm's decline.

Edit: In fact after reading your post again I am pretty sure it is your new flywheel. Very light flywheels are not very comfertable for street applications because of what I said above. ^^
