I have a 91' GSX, and I blew the #### out of the second clutch I've put in it(first one was from doin donuts, My BAD) I'm sick of low end clutches and wanna put something in that I can drive every day, but will be good for racing on the weekends. I've narrowed it down to the ACT Xact flywheel coupled with either: Center force dual friction, ACT 2500, or ACT 2600 clutch. Does anyone have any info on what would be the best. Let me know.

you dont really hear much about the act 2500. im sure people are running it, but i never here of them. The DF seems to have some good reviews and i believe it may have a little less pedal pressure, but dont quote me on that. I personally just bought a act 2600, havnt even put it in yet. but i feel it will be the best for me. i want to have a nice ass street car that i can take to the track and pull down a nice time. this is why i chose the 2600. everyone tells me once you get used to the pedal pressure, you forget about it and its easy. sounds like you may have similar goals as me, so you might want to look into the 2600. it can hold up to the abuse thats for sure. diamondstarmotorsport runs it at over a 100 track launches and no problems yet :thumb:

Some suggestions before you put that 2600 in.

1. Check the tranny, if needed go ahead and rebuild it (new synchros, DD 2nd gear synchros, new shift rails...etc)
2. Pull out the padel assymply and weld it
3. Get new clutch master slave and slave cylinder
4. SS clutch line (optional)
5. ACT flywheel? (optional)
6. Taboo extended rod? (optional)

Good luck! :thumb:

I don't know about everyone else but I had an ACT 2600 and I hated it! It was way to heavy for a street car, and if you don't have a built tranny I wouldn't do it. It destroyed mine. I also way back in the past had a Centerforce Dual Friction and it blew up within 6 mths of not that hard driving. This time around I bought a SPEC stage 3 which is said to hold more power than the ACT I think 25 or 50 ft lbs more if I remember right. And so far driving it, it is much better. A lot lighter pedal almost stock and will easily hold what I have. I also got the spec flywheel. They are cheaper and I personally like them better. I just recommend checking them out.

thanks for the replies. I haven't check into the SPEC clutch line yet, but I'll definately look and see. oh and buy the way I plan on putting in a new trans and clutch master/slave/braided lines. gonna do it all at once so it won't be a problem later. thanks again and keep em comin... :dsm:

the taboo extended rod sounds like a good Idea too, I'll probably wait till after I take up the slop in the pedal linkage and see where the clutch engages/disengages first

I love my act xact and 2600 combo. Even in the beginning the 2600 didnt seem very stiff. I stalled it twice when I first tried to drive it since it had been 10 months since the car ran, but after that its been great. I tried a couple launches at 400 miles and it still slipped a bit. Since then its broken in more and grabs hard. Even my g/f can drive it with no problems, or complaints. She never even commented about it being tough.
