Okay I read and read but have found nothing about what numbers you should be aiming for when you log.
The only one I found is that your o2 should be .89-.90 @ WOT. I know knock is a bad thing. My questions are, how do you read the injector pulse, timing, isc,... What do the numbers mean????
I have no idea what my timing should be, how much my injectors are working,...
Please help a brotha out! Thanks. :)

i feel that the best way to tune for a newbie is to go by fuel trims. i would first make a 3rd gear run with the desired boost u want. if your knocking turn the boost down and make a 3rd gear run again. once the knocking stops look at your fuel trims (high, med, low). anything 100 is starting to get on the lean side and anything lower then 100 is a little on the rich side. i would keep leaning till i get knock and richen it up a couple of knoches to put you in a pretty good position to not hurt anything. now this isnt the fastest way of tuning but its a pretty good start learning from. later u will look at timing, knock, injector pluse width ect..

^^NO.. please don't speak of things you don't know about :thumbdown

Fuel trims are only utilized/updated under Closed Loop operation (i.e. cruising not WOT).. in which the O2 sensor is utilized to further adjust fuel trims if it senses you are running Rich/Lean.

During WOT (open loop operation) the best way to tune is to datalog Knock Sum, O2, IPW and Timing.

Knock sum will tell you if knock is being sensed allowing you to richen (or lean if rich knock) the mixture. Knock will reduce timing when > 7counts.

O2 will give you a "ballpark" of where you are Rich/Lean (Wideband O2s are 100% more accurate at this). On a 1G .88-.92 is generally good.. >.94 is rich.

IPW will tell you if your injectors are running within it's limits using the formula Duty Cycle% = (IPW*RPM/60)/2)/1000. You don't want DC% to consistantly be >95%.

Timing will give you a general indication of where you are w.r.t. your tuning. Higher timing = Good but may mean you can turn the boost up a little more.

I'm running mmcd software. I don't know what IPW is. I can't find it anywhere in the program. I'd like to figure out how much my injectors are working. Since I don't know the IPW part of the formula I can't figure it out.
BTW I logged a run (keep in mind the car has been sitting all winter with the same gas and the plugs haven't been changed in a while)
@ 6812K rpm
inj- 15.10 ms
20 cnt knock 3rd gear pull 23psi
o2 0.74
timing 16

other pull
@ 7062K rpm
inj- 13.82 ms
6 cnt knock 3rd gear pull 22psi
o2 0.82
timing 21

I'm guessing fresh gas and plugs would help out a little?

Duty Cycle = (15.10 x 6812 /60)/2/1000 = 85.72% = Fine
Running a bit lean.. sweeten up the SAFC or turn the boost down a bit.

Duty Cycle = (13.82 x 7062 /60)/2/1000 = 81.33%
Nice timing.. could prol add more fuel but overall nice #s.

It's best to look at Duty Cycle over the whole run as fuel trims are not a straight line.. they go up and down to account for turbo spool and VE of the engine. I just dump the log into Excel and copy the formula for every datapoint. You don't have to log IPW all the time.. only if you make a change to airflow (i.e more boost, SAFC changes).

i wanna invite the people that are having questions about tunning to this site. Its very informative and gives the newbie tunner an idea on where to start and explains everything really simple. Helped me alot when i first started to learn how to tune
