AC Wont work when button pushed makes noise?

Hi i dont know i think im suppose to post this on the problem forums but im having some problems my a/c wont work when i press the button and turn it up it sounds like a big rattle? and then when i turn it off it sounds if you were spinning some beans in a jar and then stops making a clinking noise? any suggestions

Is your AC clutch fried?

Mine made some pretty crazy noises when it failed, but only when you would activate the AC.

i dont know to be honoest with you someone told me the same thing ill check in my chiltons manual tonite i apperciate the help thank you
