ac belt

Hey everybody im new to dsm just got the car a couple weeks ago its a 2g gst 97 didn't have the ac belt previous owner removed it but now i got it and its hotttt i need my ac.....installed it today and immediately noticed a loss of power is this common can someone put my ease at rest

that's usually why people remove it I'm not sure if its that noticeable though your talking 5-10hp
