i just had a qucik question, when you are doing bracket racing and the other car has and advantage over you, so you get to go first, do they count from the time the tree turns green, or from the time you roll past the sensors? i was wondering this becuase maybe i can get a better 1/4 mile time and launch if i did not have to worry about the tree. and another thing, do they start count your 1/4 mile time from the time the tree trurns green, or from the time you roll past the sensors? these are 2 seperate questions but very similar, the reason i wanted to know is becuase i did not want wait a second longer at the light for a handycap run, and get blasted by the guy next to me even more. and the second question i just so that i can run the best et that i can by waiting just a bit longer.
thanks for the replies and lack of bashing ahead of time

When you take off, your car will trigger the sensor and the timer will start. You could sit there for a minute and your 1/4 time wont change. 60' is what you gotta worry about for now and then when you get real good at it then go for a good reaction time. This is of course for just normal racing. For bracket racing your reaction time is important.

The timer starts when you trip the beam it is located ahead of the stage beam . Once the light goes green the reaction timer starts but not until you move about 20" {I think} does the 1/4 mile timer start . It makes no difference if it is heads up or a bracket race .

In bracket racing R/T is everything. You could run a faster time yet the guy in the other lane could have a better R/T and win.

When your out just to get a timeslip R/T means nothing.
