What color are the 390cc injectors? I have two green colored tops and two blue tops in my car. I haven't written down any numbers,or taken any pics as of yet. Even a pic would be fine! I'm curious because 1)I can't find the answer in the forums and 2)my engine was rebuilt 2 weeks ago,and my mechanic replaced the fuel injector seals/o rings. I'm experiencing fuel cut,I believe, and wonder if I have matching injectors even, since 2 are different colorsWTF . More info on the fuel cut:around 3100 rpm's I push the throttle down a little...rpm's drop down to 2000 then back up in a split second. Sometimes,it throws the CEL,sometimes not. My car did sit a month while it was being repaired/I gathered up the money, and it had very little fuel in the tank...of course I forgot to put any injection cleaner in the tank also, when I drove it home. Sorry this is winded, just looking to see if I can figure this out myself...my mechanic said to call if any problems happened and he would make it right, but I don't wanna take it back until I at least get injector cleaner,so I don't feel like an ass if that's all it is...

After using fuel injector cleaner,my 'fuel cut' seems to have went away. No more CEL. My only question then is my fuel injectors themselves...why are two black topped and two blue? I've already seen alot of mistakes on this car(brake bolts switched around, valve cover overtightened ie cracked, dif brand of tires front to rear, etc) so it wouldn't surprise me in the least that the previous owner has them mismatched. Are there any color charts for this type of thing? Anyone with an a/t please chime in,or someone that can answer this for me. New injectors and a manual tranny ecu are in the plans so I can at least run 450cc but long-term,not now LOL

Crap...seems like I've got a pieced together jigsaw puzzle of a car...no wonder my mpg are ridiculous. Thanks for the info timloomis, looks like ebay or the classifieds are next for matching injectors. I don't have the money for a SAFC right now. Not sure if I trust the salvage yard even for 2 injectors.

No problem. My brother has a set of 450's if your interested. And I have an extra 5 spd ecu. It's hard to tell with these cars and the frankenstein crap people do to them.

Before you start wondering what injectors are supposed to be in the car, check the # on the ecu and see if it is a 5spd ecu or auto. If you do have a 5 spd ecu, the 2 black and 2 blue injectors should technically work with it. I personally would not suggest running mismatched injectors, same cc or not. Anyway, post up the ecu # and we will tell you what injectors you need.

Good idea,I never thought of that angle. That would save me one project if the ecu is m/t. I'll check that tomorrow. Thanks for all the input thus far, everyone. Silver Bullit I'll have pics tomorrow of the injectors, too.

Yea I should've said check the ecu. I was also thinking that if you needed 450's and an ecu, you should just get an afc. That would make your current setup work and give you tuning ability down the road.

Here is a pic of the injectors, outer are blue, inner are black tops

The number on the case of my ecu was 166255. I can't seem to find that number at all. I looked on vfaq, are any other ecu lists available? That would be sweet if it was a manual ecu, already.

That ecu is for a n/t car. So yes, injectors and ecu are both wrong.

Those are just the injector clips, they're all like that. Look at the actual injector body. But I have both a 5spd and an auto ecu if you still need one and your injectors match up correctly.

So with that ecu I don't have AWD! Will that have affected anything when I put in the correct one? IE will I have AWD at all? Affect my turbo as well? This just keeps getting better and better, the more I dig around or replace something on this car the more craptastic things I find.

So timloomis those are just covers? Held on by little clips, correct? If I get a chance today I will take those off to verify what color they are.

The ecu doesnt affect awd or turbo. It affects the fuel system, ignition, performance, etc. You need to have a turbo ecu, manual or auto, and proper size injectors for whichever ecu you are running. With so many improper parts, you can do serious damage to the engine. Dont drive it until it is fixed.

What color is the injectors? Not the clips attached to them?

I def don't want anything to happen to this motor,I'm 250 miles into a rebuilt head. Glad to know about the AWD,I wasn't sure what the ecu actually controlled. Gonna go check my injectors

Yea the ecu has no control over the awd. I can't imagine what your timing was at wot though. I logged my old n/t gs and I think it was over 30*.

Well I checked one injector, and it's gray. I will be replacing those as well, and working now on a deal to get a m/t ecu. I'm really glad I kept my old Ford truck right now, that second vehicle comes in handy, especially owning a Frankenstein-DSM like mine LOL Hopefully after this I won't find much more bootleg set-ups on my car. Again thanks to all who has contributed to helping me out! I learn things everytime I log onto here, good and bad, about my DSM

When I do get a new ecu, should I take it to my mechanic? Will the timing need readjusted? Or should I take it to him as is and let him replace the ecu/adjust timing if needed?

You should check timing after the install. Mine was 5* off after an ecu change. It's easy if you have a timing light. The ecu is easy to install too. Just unhook the battery, take the harness off the ecu, and reverse for install.

Ecu I already had out,it is easy to change. The timing I'm going to have my mechanic do. I would love to be able to do it myself. I need someone to show me,and have the proper tools. Is 5* too much to drive, without harming my engine? Just curious,I don't know. I'm not going to put the ecu in and then drive it to my mechanic,I'll just have him do it. He wanted my to bring it back anyway to check the timing, and change my oil, after a few hundred miles on the rebuild he did.

One last question on this. I want to install the m/t fpr,and 450cc injectors before i take my car to the mechanic to do the timing and ecu. Can I drive my car without any problems? I only live a few miles away(about 8). If all that occurs for that short time is I run a little rich,no big deal. I just want to save a little money,I already broke my piggy bank on the rebuild:D
