Went to the track today and on the way down the 1/4mile car was smoking heavily.
Pull the plugs - fine
car idles - fine
compression check - fine 190 across
loss coolant? - NO
loss oil? - YES!
Oil comes out from o2 housing? - Yes
Turbo shaftplay - Too much that I feel like ass that i bought the turbo!
A lot of white smoke - yesx1000

So.... my almighty dsmers! Did I blow my turbo? <-- got a used turbo 3weeks ago from a dsmtuner. Bullseye To4B.

It's definitely coming from the turbo, the question why/how before you slap on a replacement turbo.

1. Excessive shaft play.

2. Excessive oil pressure/volume.

3. Poor oil return capacity.

4. Excessive crankcase pressure.

5. Excessive boost level, possibly combine with boost leak.

okay, my old 16G turbo's exhaust fins were all banged up.. so i decided to replace the turbo with the To4b at a good price from a fellow tuner.
When i got the turbo, i checked the shaftplay, only minimum. I have the oil feed and return kit from bullseye as well.
I had the feed line ran from the oil filter housing just like the stock turbos do.

NOw, this is the catch. I ran 20psi on the track today when it finally gave up and I might have a boost leak somewhere because when I swapped the turbo, the car kept dying going from hi speed to neutral. It might be the high boost level and the boost leak that killed it, but I doubt it since I did boost leak tests after the turbo swap.

Now, I have a choice of going back to the banged up 16G, or another choice of a 50trim turbo. Any suggestions?

Well if you are a frequent track visitor than the 50trim will be the better choice for you in my opinion anyway but, if not than a rebuilt 16g will do you. Also since you have a FMIC a 50trim might be more efficient since it flows more air than that of a 16g.
 
yeah, i've already have dsmlink 750cc and all the supporting mods for a 50trim turbo. The problem is, i am so afraid to kill another turbo like this. I dont see how the exhaust side piston rings can be shot like that and the exhaust side fins are all chipped off like my old 16G. Makes me think that I have something flew out from the engine that hit the turbo. ( pray not to be the valves!)
Would you buy a used FP3056 or a brand new AGP 49T 50 trim turbo?
