A little trany help!

First of all I want to say you guys have an awesome site! It has really helped me work on my little brothers car. Now for the problem, when running the car a little hard it sometimes does not want to hit 2nd gear. At first I thought it was just operator eror so I got in it and drove and it missed with me driving. Is 2nd gear a commn problem with these cars? What steps should I take to help him fix this. thanks in advance for your help

check the slave cylinder. if its leaking then that could be your problem. if thats no it look around the shifter and make sure the 2nd ger shifter cable is connected properlly.
