A Hello from a new DSMtuners Member !!!!!!!

Hey whats up just thought id introduce myself to the board . Im shure ill be a postwhore in no time. My names Niko I used to have a 2002 honda civic si (and the bashing begins) got tired of paying sick inshurance payments for my car and got tired of wheel spin and constant rice boys revving past my house whenever they saw my car . SO i decided to buy a 1g dsm a few of my old friends are oldschool dsm tuners and had some preety fast cars. they all grew out of the scene or moved on to better things so i dont realy hear from that that much. So i just purchased a 90 eagle talon tsi awd turbo. for 2,500 interior is mint motor runs really strong 83,000mi on motor n body and tranny is great the body is decent but i could care less. I was wondering what mods you guys sugest to start my money pit ? haha . Ive been lookin into turbos im interested in the t3/t4 setup 20g or mabey a FP green . my friend dre ran the fp green on his 2g and i had to say it was hella impresive. But new turbo will come later one i just wana do the basic mods to get some nice gains ? any sugestions will be great to help this ex-honda guy step into the DSM realm. !!

Hey, let me be the first to welcome you to the board. As you've noticed u'll find a lot of useful info around here but watch what you ask cuz a lot of people will jump all over your ass if they feel its a dumb question but thats how it is will all boards i guess....i'm glad you switched over from a honda to a dsm. For awhile there i was considering trading in my dsm for a honda to go b18c5 style ...as far as mods u should start with, well i'm sure u can figure out the basic stuff but turbos is another story, there are so many choices! But i'm sure u know that , i had a hard time choosing mine but i ended up with a 20g. Its a great turbo but eventually i want to pick up the fp green. Well i'm rambling on with bs...welcome...

Welcome to the board! You made a great choice switching, the tsi stock will be faster then your Si, you might even wait to mod cause the speed will take some getting used to ! Anyway you got a ####ing awesome deal $2500 for a great condition TSi AWD is unbeliveable! Hey guys thanks for the welcome. Well today was the first day I actuly got to drive the dsm for more than 2 miles. and boy did i have some fun . this car stock is faster than my 02 si with a 75 shot and i/h/e . i love how the car handels it's self on curves full boost + curvery roads= . As stated about im gona have to get used to driving it stock for now. but i always have a need for speed. i dont like the gearbox on the car go getting into 3rd is gona take a lil getting used to. also what is the stock psi on the tsi . i heard it was 10 but my stock boost gauge reads 14 ?

Welcome, etc.

The stock "boost" gauge isn't a gauge. It's a motor with a needle on it, spun by the ECU. It guesses about what your boost would be, if. It does this by looking at the measured airflow, rpm, throttle position and a few other factors. The numbers are only on it to fill up the emptiness of the dash.
Your actual stock boost will be anywhere from 9 to 15, depending on variances in age, condition, atmosphere, load, and just plain stuff.
So, your first trek into the world of customization will be to get a nice boost gauge.

I have a 90' Talon TSI also, and I paid 1500.00 for it (More miles, and I am sure a rougher body and interior) But my love none the less.

What is involved in a tune up for the DSM . I changed the oil/tranny fluid/coolant and changed all the belts. what else should i do ?

did you do the T-belt, then with that comes the water pump and tensioner
