I am trying to budget out a mod list for my car, but couldnt decide which turbo to get budget wise. My choices are a big16g or a 50trim.

My concerns are my transmission, a FMIC, and engine internals.

1. is the 50trim a good streetable turbo?

2. Will I be able to run 50 trim on stock engine internals, and a stock transmission? Because I know that with a 16g I wouldnt have to worry about internals, maybe my tranny.

3. Also I dont plan on installing a FMIC until after my turbo is installed, so will i be able to run a 50trim w/o having to worry about heatsoak?

4.Will 680 injectors be enough for a 50 trim? because that is what I would get if I went with the 16g.

5. what is all boils down to is: besides the cost of the turbo, how much more money am i looking to spend if i opt to go with a 50trim as opposed to a big16g?

My goals power wise is around 300-50whp and a high to mid 12 sec car. My power and a speed goals are always changing thats why i am posting this question.

I would get the 50 trim, yes its streetable and you can run it on stock internals ,most people will problay say get the 16g but you'll want bigger,i have an evo now and i am upgrading to AGP 50 trim, your tranny should be fine, and you should deff get a fmic, and yes the 680 injectors are fine even 650 would do,make sure you get a 255 pump and AFPR

Ok ill give this post my best shot.

1. is it streetable.. sure especially in a GST where traction is fun on quick spooling turbos.

2. stock internals.. yes. stock transmission.. yes.

3. will you heatsoak on a 50trim.. depends on the PSI really.. but at the lvl you will want for a 50 trim to be efficient.. you will want a FMIC.

4. 680cc injectors.. are plenty.

5. ok 16g compared to a 50 trim in cost is interesting when you start with a stock vehicle. you need less to support a 16g. 16g you can honostly slap on without upgrading anything and boost up to like 14psi and be done if you really wanted to. 50 trim sure you could do the same thing but you would be cutting that turbo so short it would be pointless. I mean like.. when you are upgrading to a 50 trim most guys want more airflow first.. intake.. exhaust.. external wastegate maybe. Fuel.. bigger injectors. bigger fuel pump.. tuning tools. cooling.. FMIC. A bigger clutch to handle the power increase. All that good stuff. If you only want 300-325 horses a 16g can get you there. Just remember.. the faster you want to go the more money you need to spend.

i have another question i forgot to ask about is my manifold. would a ported manifold do justice for a 50trim, or is an aftermarket nessesary?

I have a B16G with ported mani and 02. I definitely noticed a difference once the parts were ported as the car was able to maintain boost better and also spooled a little quicker.

B16G is nice, but not enough kick for me...

Bit of a hijack question, if I were to run something like a small 16G on 97 Talon TSI AWD with stock injectors, would I need to run an SAFC/DSMlink or does the MAF compensate for airflow changes so the motor gets enough fuel? Just want to double check before I dive into anything.
