Well tonight I was bringing my friend Mike(totaleclipse_05) home from the hospital, we were about half way home (about 3 miles) when it was as if I had no spark in any cylinder...I could push the gas..but NOTHING would happen...the vacuum on my boost gauge would fluctuate as I push the pedal..but no more power once so ever.(Mike thought the gauge was doing it by itself..he didn't even know I was pushing the pedal.)

I turned down a street, and my car died...When I turned it back on I had a CEL..I took off...Then I realized my RPM range had been cut in half...My rev limiter was at 3,500 rpm...I did the Keydance and got 12 and 14..I know 12 means the PCM has been disconnected within the last 50 key cycles..but I don't know what the 14 is..Now that I think about it..my coil has probably taken a shit on me..or is in the process of..I've been noticing mis-fire lately also.

I turned the car back on after leaving mikes..it ran fine, revved to over 4k..I turned it off to go get one more thing..When I came back out..It wouldn't hardly even start..Eventually we got it fired up, and on the way home it was the same 3,500 rev limit..CEL on, only happened once where the gas pedal was non-existant...

Any ideas?
I'm going to run to autozone tomorrow and get my codes pulled to see what the dealio is.
Also, I tried going to 2gnt to see what the 14 is..but the site wouldn't load..

Thanks in advance

cel 14 is map sensor voltage...too low or too high, hmm

Get a 3bar map sensor, and I've got a stock coil pack I can pretty much just let go of, or you can upgrade to the msd or screaming demon right away, it all depends on your money situation and what will fix what ya know. But my extra coil pack is there for the taking.

Thanks alot I appreciate it..I don't think it's the coil since 14 was for the MAP voltage. I just swapped it out with a buddy of mine and it didn't do anything different though. I can't drive the car.

When I turn it on, it idles fine for 2-3 seconds, then it stumbles to 400 or 500 and surges back to 1000 then back down to 400-500 etc... I don't know if something could have gotten on a connection for the SAFC2 or what... I'm running out of ideas though.

try a compression test
u think maybe he has blow-by or some cracked ringlands possibly

Come on my friend..LoL...Too many symptoms that point in other directions. I thought about the test at one point..Then realized it was silly. Oil pressure is fine, and when I can get it going it drives fine.

I don't know homie, it could be the headgasket ROFL

go ahead and get the msd coil pack bro, it won't hurt to have it either way :thumb:

DSMcrazy3 = no deep pockets..:(

The basics,
MAP code thrown(14)
Idles fine for 2 seconds, then stumbles and tries to die..eventually doing so.
Occasionally 0 power from gas pedal

Replaced the MAP, and got nothing from it...

Right now I'm thinking it could be a bad connection for the map connection for the SAFC2 going to the ECU. I'll check that tonight/tomorrow morning. This problem just appeared out of nowhere..

ruh rohz...I forgot you had that darn safc :toobad:

check the connection with the map and safc. also check connection with coil pack. if you have a egr tube look for wires grounding out on it. good luck

You = DA MAN! haha I don't know why I didn't look there sooner..I just looked and it was stuck to the tube..I pulled it off and sure enough it was the MAP wire that had been burnt...

Here are a few pics of the damage

LOL

I was just tellin you bout that shiznit a few weeks ago when my entire car just died ### the main wiring harness was burning onto egr tube blowing the engine fusible link :thumb:

LOL, same problem a couple of months ago. I was gonna say something about the egr ground out as well, but It didn't sound like the car would just die out on ya.

Word to the wise for everyone, take a look at your EGR's now and make sure the wires around it are covered, I've already witnessed several of these cases in the last few months, and someone should do a lil sticky or tech article about it. Qucik easy fix it seems to be.

Sage advice. I've seen everything from this causing loss of CAS and CMP signals to popping Optima batteries mounted in trunks. Three zip ties and five minutes could save you a major headache. :thumb:
