So in my 1990 talon tsi fwd my af at idle is at 7.7! I installed new injectors and i have no way to tune it. It runs fine just my af is really low. Is there any way to change my af ratio? I do not have dsmlink. All i have is a wideband and i dont think i can with that.

You should just install your stock injectors until you get something to tune with. Right now you are probably running pig rich and wasting fuel.

You could purchase an air fuel controller but they are very limited. Everyone here is going to recommend you bite the bullet and buy link. What size injectors did you install?

You need a way to tune. Safc or link or go speed density and by a program for your laptop or get a maft and gm maf. That's it. You'll wash your cylinders down and dilute your oil if you leave them in there without a tune.

You cannot install larger injectors without a way to tune the car to compensate for them! Of course it will make you run rich as holy hell.

Change your oil immediately, it is probably full of fuel and no longer effective. Then put the stock injectors back in. Is the wideband calibrated correctly?

Read the tech section for upgrade paths. This just looks like you started buying parts in random order.

:ohdamn:

Well....... At least he had a wideband so he could tell he was in need of a tuning solution and didn't come in and ask why his car was running like shit. That is a step in the right direction. :thumb:

Ostrich is another option...

I have the gm maf and maft. I have a innovate lc-1 and log works. I am running evo 8 560cc's

What size injectors did you put in, and why did you do it without any form of tuning?

I do not have the money. I am 16. I got 560cc's

Well, time to do a bit of research using the search engine here on how to set your MAFT to compensate for the bigger injectors. I have never used one, but I do know they will let you compensate for the extra fuel to an extent. You shouldn't have to compensate much. I use Lucas 550's now and even with an SAFC, I didn't have to adjust too much. Let the DSM teaching commence... Owning one of these cars is a crash course in mechanics , and your classes have just begun. Pay attention, don't settle for half assed work, and learn from the car as you drive it. It is one of the greatest teachers you'll ever have.

Very well said, your dsm car is gonna be the best auto tech teacher your gonna get. They used to make a bumper sticker that reads "dsm, turning drivers into mechanics since 1990"

I did dial the injectors in with the translator and when i do the car wont even run. it does but barely.

Goto fullthrottle.com and download the instructions. It's very easy to set up. You do have the gm maf sensor, right? Do you know if your temp sensor is working? If its bad, it usually defaults to like -20* and will cause the engine to dump fuel.
It's the sensor on the thermostat housing that has the 2 wires going to it. Your logging soft ware should show what the ecu is seeing. When the car is cold, get a reading and it should be close to ambient temp.
