A different shifter bushing question

I was replacing my shifter base bushings a while back, and realized alot of my side to side play was coming from the pivot point indicated by the yellow arrow. I pulled the lock ring off the pivot arm and pulled the pivot arm off the shifter assembly. The plastic shimming sleeve at that pivot point has been reduced to powder, causing some nasty side to side play. Has anyone found a replacement for this? I would just make one, but i don't have access to a lathe machine.

Since you have the arm off you should see if a skateboard wheel bearing would fit in the bushings place, if so that would lead to uber crisp, precise shifting!

Good point.. Once i get a hold of some calipers, I'll do some measurements on that joint and see if I can either make something up, or try the bearing trick. That would definitely be sweet.

I have some serious side to side play as well. I was previously unable to correct it but I didn't spend much time. Thanks for posting this, and do let us know what happens.

PieEyedPiper, I responded to your previous post, I don't know if you saw it. Don't forget, while not radical, there are difference between the 1G shifting assembly and the 2G.
