A/C Evaporator

Hey guys,
Im pretty sure that my ac is leaking freeon out of the evaporator. I could hear it coming from there last summer. So im gonna tear it apart this next week and get it fixed. My question is. Is there any way I can get to it withoug tearing the dash out? Like through the glove box? Or is it just easier to take the dash out? Any things I should watch for with the evaporator?

the core can easily be removed by removing the glove box, after thats out it gives you a pretty good look at it. Just drop it thru the bottom and it should come out with a little finesse. he dash does not need to come off for this job. Atleast not on my 96, but when I removed the heater core and all the duct work i removed the dash.
