I just bought this 1990 Eagle Talon from my boss. Paid 300 bucks. It has 18,000 miles on a rebuilt engine. I started looking at the engine bay and the accessory belt for the air conditioner is rubbing against the time cover, has already wore a grove in the cover. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem. Im new to the whole 4cyl world so bare with me. I gonna post some pics.

bad things happen when belts break my buddy just got his head built and the a/c belt came off and went into the timing belt and bent some valves

DO NOT ignore this problem. I had my cover cut into pieces because my tensioner bolt backed out. As mentioned above, bad things happen when the belts let go. I would check tension on the belt, and see if any of the bolts are loose on the tensioner. If everything is in place (including cover) there should be no rubbing.

I put my tentioner on backwards one time and it did the similar thing. There was almost a v worn in the one belt. Don't know if this will help, but make sure its not backwards, and like the other guys said see if it too tight/not tight enough. Are the belts actually rubbing together? Cause I had that problem too, taking the water pump pully off can be a bi***! I ended up bending the out side edges of the water pump pully and the belt was sliding over to the other one causing friction. Check your pulleys for and damage...
