I bought a 1999 Eclipse Spyder on the 4th and just started getting new things for it. The first thing to be replaced was the stereo. I put in a new sony stereo, but ran into a slight problem. The adapter from the stock infinity amp is nothing like what's on the back of the sony stereo. The stereo has red/white RCA outputs. I saw Receiver Wire Harness For select 1994-07 Dodge, Eagle, and Mitsubishi vehicles at Crutchfield.com but it doesn't have the two inputs I need. Can anyone shed some like on this? I'd much appreciate it.

Yea, youll need one from PIE. One sec while i look it up.

This is what you need, no you cant have mine. Im having a hard time locating one for sale. Worse comes to worse i can make you one like i used to years ago when these cost $70+ and the DIN cable was $150+ from the Stealer.

Then youll only get sound from the front or rear. Most stereos that have one pair are for a sub which is usually tied off the rear outputs. You can use a Line Out Convertor to take the amplified signal (that would normally go through the cars wiring) and then hook the LOC's to that adapter and use the Infinity amp with the stock speakers. Just curious why you got rid of your stock stereo?

Stock stereo didn't work. The only thing it would do is say "Off" on the screen. No Radio, CD, etc.

You shouldn't need two adapters. I'm thinking yours split into two after the main harness connector? Follow the harness back and it should plug into a single white connector. That is where the black one in the crutchfield link you posted should plug into. Unless spyders are different for some reason, but I'm 99% sure the radio wiring is the same. Also you shouldn't have to order one from crutchfield and wait for it to be shipped. You can go to Best Buy and get one right then and there.

Ok, thank you. I now have a new issue, however. Can anyone link me to a stereo mounting kit that actually fits a '99 eclipse? I tried a "One size fits all" scosche kit, I guess one size doesn't fit all.

You need to reenter the code from the factory, the dealer can get this from the serial number on the stereo if you need it.

The 2G's have six 4ohm speakers, if you use that adapter (bypassing the facrtory amp) then you will eventually blow the amp in the Sony.

You dont need a mounting kit, use the factory brackets, and see if the dealer can get you a 1G 'pocket', or get one from Scoshe (sp).

Have you tried a Metra harness adapter? It's a simple install. Model # is 70-7003. I have a 98 GSX that had an aftermarket stereo in it which I changed later on. The Metra was a simple install. Like already stated you shouldn't need any mounting kits as the factory brackets will work.

Well, I already bought the Metra before you said anything about it. :/ It came with a power harness and an audio harness. The audio harness has 4 plugs- 1 green, 1 purple, 1 white, 1 grey. My head (Sony MEX-BT39UW | Installation/Connections) has 6 outputs, all of which are either red or white. I already had a "power" harness, but it has multiple different wires compared to that of the power harness supplied by Metra. Should I swap the current harness out for the one that came with the metra? Sorry, I've never dealt with an Infinity system before. :/

You can just disconnect the amp. Modern head units have plenty of power built into them to not even need the amp.

You would hook the 4 RCA's on the DIN cable to the respective LF/LR/RF/RR RCA's on the Sony. If i remember correctly, Green is Left Front, purple Left Rear, white Right Front and grey Right Rear. You can also follow the color scheme on your head unit for the speaker outputs to see which RCA would go where, you just wont be hooking them up to the cars wiring.

This right here shows you know nothing about amps and speaker loads. With six 4 ohm speakers and a factory 6 channel amp running them...if you wire in four 4 ohm speakers to front channels you will (eventually) blow the amp regardless of 'power' output. This is not even taking into consideration that the factory amp has a built in crossover to filter out the lows to the dash speakers. Hooking up a full range output to these will blow them fast.

And Finesse, you were right on the 7003, last time i installed car audio (over 12 years ago) this kit was not available and they didnt even make the DIN cable adapter, so i apologize.

you can try this..Mitsubishi Amp *Bypass* Interface - METRA - 707002 i ran into that problem you had and my car came with the adapter you can get from clutchfeild i had a head unit with only 2 pre-outs. my solution i went out and bought a better head unit witch more pre outs Kenwood x-696. Another option is just buy 2 Y cables and depending on how you hook them up you will lose fade or balance from L to R or Front to Back.

You are making shit way more complicated than it needs to be. A decent set of 6 1/2" in the doors and 6x9's in the rear will be more than enough to make the stereo sound good. Eliminate the amp, (most people unplug it and remove it completely) and just use the four speaker wires from the head unit, to power the door and rear speakers. The dash speakers are next to worthless anyways. Done. You have an awesome sounding stereo with only having to connect the head unit to the factory radio harness only.
