Hi,
I bought this car while in California in 2009. Had it transported from Colorado. Then brought it to Cincinnati where it threw a rod bearing no more than a couple years later.

It has been sitting in the weeds ever since.

I purchased a 6 bolt block and had the machinists line hone, cylinder mill, bore torque plate hone, crank polish and balance. He used Manley rods, JE pistons, ARP main/studs and ACL bearings. The 2g head was used and has BC0101 w/ GSC 5041 valve springs, and Fidanza adjustable cam gears.

This is my third DSM and I have more parts waiting to install. I will try to update with a backlog of what I have tackled so far, the car is mostly disassembled currently. I am currently rewiring my fuel pump. I have installed a Walbro 535 on my fuel sending unit w/ -8AN feed and -6AN return.

I put the rvr intake manifold on that had its inlet matched to a 1g 60mm. The evo 3 coil bracket had coils on it but it said they fired in a different order on the brackets and I didn't know if they actually worked. So I swapped the cars original coils onto the bracket. Put the battery tray we, dad and I, made back in. It is down on the subframe. I am trying to get an idea of where everything is going.

Next day I labeled every connector. If the associated part was removed or not needed I wrapped it in yellow tape first to try and protect it a little and visually organize what I have to deal with. I have a box full of emissions solenoids and junk that just keeps getting larger.

Sadly it does have a sunroof, I would like to have it welded shut. I have not worn a helmet in this car but in my 99 gst with cloth manual seats I did rub without adjusting. Thanks for the positivity!
im 6'2 in my dsm and i have a sunroof and i dont completely hit, just gotta slouch a bit and keep the sunroof cover open LOL

Also, I kinda moved on from my fuels setup for right now. I did my fuel pump rewire but I dont like the wiring. Large wire into smaller wire back into larger wire? I looked up the draw and it should be ok but seems iffy. So I bought a bulkhead fitting for 12awg and plan to run the fuel pump wires out of the tank through this instead of the factory connector.

Went out of town for the weekend but got back to it.
I have been putting off tackling the throttle body. 90 n/t, rebuilt it with mil spec seals, new gaskets and biss, and an fiav bypass plate. I hope I got it right.

Was still working on the car for a bit and then moved last week. Hoping to get back to it this weekend. Ran the wire for my alternator.

Started putting on the RTM exhaust and figuring out what the downpipe needs to adapt.

STM fmic trail fit, seems the top flange doesn't want to sit flush without really flexing the side bolts. It's hard to tell what the correct vertical angle is with it on the jackstands. It is about 0.7" from sitting flush on the hood latch bracket.

Oil cooler sandwich plate is on the car, additional oil pressure sensor

And getting ready to run my fuel lines so I picked up a Volk fuel filter bracket.

So I got sidetracked on wiring. I spent quite a while ending up with a semi tuck and rewire. I covered everything in a removable sleeve to protect it and tried to make it tidy as I went. Had to modify the battery tray we made to accept a small battery. Everything is ready for SD. Installed LM2, oil pressure and boost gauges in the cabin and also wired them into the ECMLink. EBC installed, just waiting to do vacuum lines. Just put a full braided clutch line in so I could get it out of the way pretty much. Full bleed on that and the brakes. The brakes were pretty brown so bled them a lot.

White Shed speed shifter bushing went in, these were the most rotten bushings I have found so far when replacing. Went in perfectly. I already had aluminum bushings on both ends of the shifter cables and shifter base. I also have an old b&m short shifter I put in.

I bought tires, Hankook Ventus evov2. 235/35/17. Read enough about the tire that it would work and also I think I got the last set available at a really good price. They are on Evo MR BBS rims.

I am getting ready to install my intercooler pipes. The only thing left for fabricating is my external wastegate dump. I want to reroute it back into my exhaust so its not terribly louder. ERL manifold, 44mm wg. HY35 installed, I put the HX40 on the shelf for now.

Oh, went to put my radiator back on and found a crack, so I ordered an aluminum one. It didn't line up so we made some brackets. And then the stock fans both hit so I decided to make a shroud and mount 2 SPAL pushers.

I removed more sound deadening from inside, everything except up against the front firewall, under the carpet that is behind the dash. I used a heat gun and then wiped residue clean. I am just memory dumping and spewing out a kind of list.

I feel I am very close to starting the car. I had the battery wired up the other day, laptop on and connected to ECMLink. So that felt good, especially after all my messing with the harness.

Been a while since posted but I have still been making progress. Car is all assembled and I have difficulty getting it started here in this thread. I found an exhaust leak in my downpipe vband flange. Either the clamp or the welds, it is a repurposed setup, eventually I will replace that pipe but need to fix it now. It has taken a long time to get here!

I am using a 1g n/t throttle body w/ FIAV bypass. I set my idle switch stop, throttle cable tension, set the TPS. Set my base timing by grounding the diagnostic pin and moving the 1g CAS. The timing light showed 5 on the crank pulley timing cover and the cam gears were almost lined up. I adjusted the BISS until my ISCpos averaged about 30. I boost leak tested the car before starting it to 40 psi.

I believe I am ready to put the car on the ground.
