Okay...so I just got a 98 RS manual trans. with 110,000 miles on it already. There are two different oil leaks, and one is near the drivebelt so when too much oil drips onto it, the belt makes a hideous squealing sound. Despite the problems, the car was a great deal and I'm looking to fix it up myself.
I'm thinking I want to pull out the engine and replace whatever gaskets or other components necessairy...this is my second car and the last was a truck, so this is something new. My max budget for this project is going to be $2000. Possibly overhaul the engine myself? Over-boar the cylinders and put larger pistons in? UDP? What are some great gasket or engine overhaul kits I should consider? GS-T exhaust? I want to get as much performance out of this car as I can. I'm looking to turn it into a project car and this is going to be the first step(s).
I'm not extremely knowlegable when it comes to cars or fuel mixtures, but I do know my way around an engine block (even if I can't name all the parts off the top of my head
) and I have all the tools necessairy for a project of this size.
