I was driving my GSX one day. I stopped a friends house and after uninstalling my head unit, there was the large space missing in the center console so all the wires and such were laying in there. I went to plug in my cigarette lighter [the actual wire to the back of the cigarette lighter] when one of the other wires' connectors hit the back of the cigarette lighter and sparked. Immediately after, my car slowly started to idle lower. I turned it off and tried to turn it back on and it would turn but no longer would start. I checked all my relays and all my fuses; nothing was blown. I think I MAY have shorted out the ECU but I'm not sure. Anyone have any suggestions?

I will take a picture of what touched what later.

I overrode the fuel pump relay because I heard it snapped, but apparently that's normal? I can't find my stupid DSM link CD and laptop connection didn't come with the car when I bought it used. I have DSMLink v3.

You have dsmlink v3 but have never had a laptop hooked up to it? How can you even verify that you have link on your car, because the guy you bought it from told you?

The ECU is good if you turn the key to the "ON" position and the CEL illuminates for 5 seconds. Check the voltage at the fuel pump with someone trying to start the car, at the connector it should read 12vdc on a DMM (digital multimeter) while the car is turning over.

I was given the CD and I suppose he misplaced the linkage. I lost the CD myself but he's a friend of mine so it's not like he lied about it.

But I will have to do that. I believe I blew both relays. I am somewhat out of ideas.

You don't need the CD, you can download the software without it at ecmlink's website. ECMlink downloads Just be sure you get the right one for your operating system. The linkage is what makes dsmlink work and Tom and Dave won't just sell a cable so your "friend" f'd ya if he didn't include it with the car.
