I have a 1998 manual transmission GST with a 1991 6 bolt engine, the car has about 160,000 miles on it, engine has about 60,000. I put the engine in about 1.5 years ago and just started having problems with the clutch not going into gear.
When I installed the engine I also installed an ACT 2100 clutch / pressure plate / new tob. I had to install a clutch stop behind the pedal at first because the pedal would travel too far.
I took a long trip about two months ago and about 300 miles in, I couldn't get into 1st gear, then second gear became hard, then it was impossible to shift so I pulled over. I cranked the clutch stop in further so that the pedal would have more travel, this worked fine, all the gears worked again, no problem at all.
About 3 weeks I had the same problem again, I cranked the clutch stop all the way down so that I could get into gear, the pedal was then going all the way to the floor to allow me to get into gear. This worked for a few days and then I had the same problem again and I had no more adjustment left.
I replaced the master cylinder and the slave cylinder because the slave was leaking from extending the rod so far, when I replaced the cylinders I also installed an extended push rod in the slave. I used a pneumatic bleeder and got all of the air out of the new parts, i adjusted the master cylinder rod at the back of the clutch pedal and readjusted the clutch stop so that the pedal would not travel too far. Worked great for about a week, I did the same thing, adjusted the clutch stop blah blah blah...... now I have the pedal going all the way to the floor, the master cylinder rod is adjusted all the way out and the car will not go into gear.... there is no adjusting left to do, and it's not like I can push the clutch pedal any further than the floor.
I've searched around and tried everything I've read about people that had similar problems and nothing is helping. Please Help.
