First I need to know if anyone knows what this sensor is and how it works. I think that it is what is causing the fuel to not be pumped from the driver side of the fuel tank. There is a number on it, md 322973. Anybody that knows about this sensor please respond. Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, that sensor is part of your evap emissions control system and not actual fuel delivery.

It's called a "fuel vapor sensor". I'm not exactly sure what it's for, but it sounds emissions related.

I am trying to figure out why I am only able to put about 13 gallons in my fuel tank. I have run it almost empty, car was sputtering. There seems to still be fuel in the driver side of the tank and I am assuming that it is not being used from that side. I am going to make sure this time when my gas light comes on I will check to see if there is still fuel on that side. Anyone ever have this problem.

Thats what I have done. The fuel level on that side is higher than at the fuel pump side. Does the level drop equally on each side or at a certain point does it draw from the driver side.

that sensor is called the fuel tank differential pressure sensor. i got to thinking about it after i read this thread, and it is not tied into the evap system. the evap system has a hard line that runs back to the tank and goes into the liquid separator. which is then tied back into the leveling valve by another hard line. but the differential pressure sensor sits on the low side of the tank all by itself. i'm not sure though what its exact purpose it though. i would assume it does whats its name says, determines the pressure inside the tank. WTF, don't know for sure though.

there is a fuel level cutoff valve located in the center of the fuel tank. it's located on the end opposite the fuel pump, sits right on top of the tank. maybe that could cause you problem.

My friend got the same problem before. He just can pump the gas reallt slowly. He found there is a valve broke in the fuel tank. When the valve is broke, you can't pump ther gas normally. You have to pump it really slow. I will ask him the part number for the valve. :D

Glad someone knows what the sensor is. As I dont drive the car everyday, it may take a few days to empty the tank again and see if there is still some gas on the drivers side. Again though, if anyone knows about the fuel tank and this sensor please respond. Thanks.
