Can anyone PLEASE HELP.. I just put in a new motor in my car 97 eclipse gst I think I have everything connected right and it has new oil change and spark plugs all new gaskets. I have my boost control turned all the way down. So for the first time I turned my car on sounded good seemed like everything was good like it always does, so I took it out for a little test drive drove good changed gears perfect (automatic tranny) drove it slow and just cruised around maybe like about for 5miles everything seemed good so I took it out on the high drove it normal and coasted up to 65mph and put it on cruise control and my turbo started spooling on its own so I turned cruise control off and got off the high way and started driving slow about 20mph and the turbo was still creeping up on its own or so it said on my stock boost gauge so I pulled over and when I tried going again the car felt like it had no power and the turbo just kept creeping up on its own so I got home and turned it off and now it won’t even start like it kind of wants to buts seems like its’ not getting enough gas or not even if u try revving it while turning it on...
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it I just want to get it back on the streets asap

Im using a manual boost control and im new at working on these kinda cars so i have no idea about the waste-gate spring and ya its a stock turbo and i got aftermarket gauges just dont know how to connect them

These type of things are never easy to do over the internet, here is my attempt hope it helps.

Since your turbo and cruise control are both controlled by vacuum and since your getting a response from one by using the other it makes sense to me that your vacuum hoses are not correct. As for the no power and no start sounds like you now have a huge vacuum leak.

My advise is to get a vacuum hose diagram and redo all of them. You can find a diagram in any service manual ( hope you have one since your new at these cars and pulling the motor out) . If you do not have the manual I will update soon with a link with one if I find it.

Ok I found a good link here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/search.php?searchid=12207991

^ Do this.

It does sound like you have huge vacuum leak. Your stock turbo gauge would shoe you boosting, but you would not feel it and the car wouldn't go anywhere. Thus cruise control would make the car rev/boost to continue to "cruise". Make sense?

Then search: Boost gauge install

Its really very simple to do. But you NEED to get this installed. This will give you and the community good info on whats going on with the car so we can better help you.

A big boost leak will make the maf pull more air thru than what is going into the engine and will show as boost on the stock gauge.

Hell ya guys thanks a lot for the help I'm going to try all these things y'all mentioned and ill let y'all know how it goes and thanks a lot for the help again

oh ya my bad whats MAF?

Mass Air Flow, basically it is a air metering sensor. The ecu uses it to read how much air the engine is using, then with that reading and a phew others, it decides how much fuel to fire out the injectors.

It is the large box looking thing with a big electrical connector plugged into it, that your air filter is mounted to.

Same type of problem with my 97 GST. It ended up that two of the hoses we're switched.. Hope your's is as easy

shouldn't be expensive, vacuum line is cheap. Just take your time and double check things. And def get that boost guage hooked up ASAP. People been known to detonate motors by just hookin MBC's up and (leaning out) not a more accurate boost guage.
