I'm trying to sell my dad's 1997 gst. It has 66,000. He's the only owner. No major repairs until now. Drove to meet a buyer last Sunday and the engine light went on. Coded as cylinder 1 misfiring. Dealer replaced the spark plugs. Cleared the code. Drove it over 50, lights back on. They replaced the ignition coil and modulator. Coded again. They're clueless. I'm also clueless. Please excuse my ignorance. I'm just wondering if we should bother continuing or just dump it. The car is beautiful. We were only selling. It because my dad died very unexpectedly last month. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks much.

I would get new wires personally. And the plugs you used, were they NGK BPR6ES?? Only use those, especially if the car is mostly stock. No platinum or iridium junk

Sorry for your loss.
You should make sure that the spark plug gap is correct also. Anywhere from .028 - .031 . I'm leaning towards a bad wire on this one though. I had the same problem about 8 months ago. It was so bad you could hear the spark arcing at idle. Try luv2rally's idea to rule out a bad wire.
