Im looking at a 97 5-speed eclipse in beautiful shape. The one and only problem is the oil pressure sensor or something like that. The car only has 76,000 miles. The interior and exterior of the car are imaculate. The guy is asking $7500. I told him i would come this weekend and pick it up for $6500, but he said he might take $7000. Should i go with it??? I need some advice!

It's AWD and turbo, Isn't it?

Haha duh, i forgot to put that. It's a FWD with a turbo, just a GS-T. I just called the guy though, and he said that in its past it has been wrecked. The subframe was straightened out though, and everything is back to normal.

I would talk that price down i payed 3,400 for a 93 tsi mint all original with 70thousand miles on it from a widow in CT.

You cant even find a nice 95 around here for like than 5k. Prices are really high. But Id be worried about that subframe damage.

if it was wrecked in the past im guessin it has a salvaged title, are there any mods done to the car? and with a salvaged title i honestly think that askin price is way to high, even with only 70,000 mile and an immaculate body the most i would pay is 6500, but i would still be worried about that frame, pull a carfax on the car before you buy it.

There are just some small mods, the average BOV, cold air, cat-back, etc. This is just one of those cars that i have a good gut feeling about...As long as it has a good clear title though. I will try to find that out, because if its a salvage title there is no way ill buy the car for hardly any price.

Yeah i would definately be careful about the subframe damage, if possible get the vin number from the seller and run a carfax report and see what its all about. Also remember that there are alot more cars out there. Patience is key in buying any car and make sure its something you are comfortable with. Good Luck with what you choose :thumb: and let us know how everything turns out! :talon:

If i get the vin number and run a carfax, what all will it show me? because a carfaz report iis only available if a dealer services the car right? So if he did all of the oil changes and stuff like that, it wont show anything will it? Yeah, and i know patience is the key when buying a car, expecially a DSM. Ive called on so many DSM's at many different prices, years, miles, etc. and it almost seeems that no matter how low the miles are, or how new the car is and nice it looks there has been something worng with it. I called on a first gen that was a decent car, but i went down to test drive it and the head gasket was blown when i got there. I called on another talon and the guy said it was fine, but i waited a few weeks and then called him back and the crank went out of it. Ot seems like every DSM that i call on has had some big problems. For some reason i dont have that bad "gut" feeling about this car even though i know its been wrecked. It's just a hard decision because dont want to buy the car and in a few weeks or months have something go bad on it, even though i found this car about 3 months ago (the car haead 74k) and never called on it, so then last week i went ahead and have him a call (the car now has 76k) and unlike the other cars that i waited to call on this hasnt broke down since the first time he tried to sell it. And im not a mechanic, so i have one more question. With a subframe that has been repaired, what all can go wrong with the car?

Unless he performed the repairs to the subframe and the accident occured in a place where an accident report was not filed by the police then you are correct the Carfax will not show anything. If you pay for the report it will show you everything that pops up related to that vin#. When I bought my TA I ran a carfax on it and I was really surprised by what I found out. It showed up stuff that happened before the car was even sold at the dealership, so I would say that getting a carfax report is your best bet.
