Not my car.

Hey so i just traded my Integra for a 1997 Eagle Talon ESI a few weeks ago. Just the other night my talon wouldnt start. So i towed it home. Next morning tried starting it up and it started. Drove it up the road and back home shut it off and it wouldnt start back up. When the motor is completely cold it will start up and run and drive until it gets to the normal operating temperature then will die and wont start up again till the engine is completely cold. When it wont start, i am getting fuel but no spark. I replaced all 4 plugs and wires and that did nothing. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what it could be? Thanks, Craig.

I was going to go with the starter until you said it dies when it get's to temp. So, you can just be driving down the road and it will die, or do you come to a stop and it dies and won't start back up?

This is my car... I will start it up when the engines completely cold and it starts up good. It doesnt matter if im idling or in gear driving, as soon as it gets to the normal operating temperature it dies and wont start up till completely cold (usually the next morning)... Ive replaced spark plug, wires, and coolant temo sensor. Im so confused on what it could be and dont have money to keep buying parts that wont fix the problem.

i was thinking faulty alternator but not sure though. maybe u r running strictly off the battery which drains after a while of driving. alternators recharge the battery while the the car is running, could be that its not recharging properly. :hmm:

also check your coil pack and see if its firing since you've switched your wires and plugs.

im not getting any spark at the coil pack... i have a new coil pack in the mail, should be here monday but if its not that then idk what else it could be.

If you're not getting spark when you try to start the car and you already changed your spark plugs and wires then it is most likely the coilpack. Glad to hear you already ordered one, when you receive it let us know if it fixed it or not. I think it should. :thumb:

Thanks. I really hope it fixes the problem because i am running dangerously low on cash.

I had the same problem.... 420a's man suck!! its the Cam angle Sensor....... drove it home 70mph EVERYTHING LOCKED UP!!! scared me... then after a while like 10 mins it would run again and then shut off.... took it to the shop and found out that it was the cam angle sensor.

Let me know if this helps you...

But it never locks up... when im driving it just shuts off like i shut the car off myself.. Im getting fuel but no spark. I have a few people telling me ignition coil so thats what im gonna try first but if that doesnt work ill check out the sensor

ok so we definitely know your not getting any spark... there are only a few things why it's not getting any spark by looking at the electrical diagram below. Check and see if your tach is moving when you're cranking the motor. if so that'll will eliminate the power transistor, and you can lean on ecu or ignition coil (most likely they are getting too hot)
