96 TSi Dies right away.

Having pretty much the same issue as alexv02 is having.
Just finished the rebuild, new bearings, Balance shafts deleted due to them failing.
Most everything has been replaced. (Didnt take out the pistons)

But pretty much I start the car, it will idle smooth at about 1000 rpm, then it will die. If you give it a little gas, it will run poopy, then die right after the gas is let off.

Have you checked the obvious? ignition, spark, fuel

Boost leak test yet? Timing is it correct, compression numbers?

They all check out.

It just acts like you turned they key off, or the cam sensor stopped giving input.

No boost leak test. At idle, a minor leak wouldnt cause it to shut off like that. Compression is there. 145 give or take per cyl.

Timing marks all line up, except the missing balance shaft.

In the video it dont look like the MAF is hooked up!?

Correct. In the video, I tried unplugging the MAF to see if it made any difference. It did not. +1 on noticing though.

I was thinking cam sensor also.

The only things I was able to come up with were:
CAS.
CPS. (I hope to god its not)
IACV.
Clogged fuel filter.

The fuel filter is iffy though. I had a motor in it 2 months back, and it was ok.

If it helps, it did back fire/mis fire before starting a couple times. Firing order is set up for 97 CAS, on a 96 ECU.

I have no loggers of any sort.
And I post in the newbie forum due to the type of question asked, not due to my membership status.

Its a common no start. Not figure out whats wrong with my Flux Capacitor.

That sounds like the typical idle air control valve that is either bad or needs a good cleaning. Itll start right up every time and run for a short period of time and then turn itself off.

I put the CAS wires on wrong. Switched em back, and fired up. Didnt die till I turned the key off.
