96 ecu on a 98 ecu?

Question is for a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse rs-gs

Will a 1996 Ecu 5spd work on a 1998 Ecu 5spd .....

I seen the ones for the 95 they only have 1 Clip

For 96-99 they have 2 clips

Im just curious

Won't work. The actual software programmed into the 98 ECUs is different from the rest. Sorry.

No. 97 is different to. Every year was different after 96, whether in the connections or the software.

Try it, i think it will work. I have a 97 ECU on my 96 Talon, runs fine. I even got that 97 ecu reprogramed by howell\afx still runs fine. The software isnt different, there are very small differences on the inside hadware wise.

Kinda like buying a 97 dell laptop and and 98 dell laptop, software probably the same, hardware different, but the mouse, printer, and other stuff works on both
