ok guys i am stumped i just rebuilt my 420a and did the auto to manual swap. well i finely got my last piece in today so i started putting my motor and trans in. well i got every thing in hooked up every wire i could find. well accept for the to sensors on the trans. i was not told you have to splice them. one is the speed gear and the other is the back lights i think. but this is my prob when i turn the key on it will not turn over. i have head lights blinkers gauge lights both fans turn as soon as i turn the switch. but it does not trun not even a click i thought it was the starter went bought a new one same prob. i did un hook the shift computer as i was told. also the check engine light blinks

any help would be great

You need to short a couple of wires to the neutral safety switch.

Pull the codes from the ECU.

maybe you need a new battery? maybe there is just enough power in the battery to get your gauge lights but not to start the car...??

Def. check you connections at your stater. If your starter is good you'll at least hear the clicking sound.

OK yes i checked battery that was the first thing . anyway i believe it is going to have something to due with the neutral safety switch as Locke posted. i have power at the starter but i am not sure how to go about finding the neutral safety switch wires or what to do with them when i do. .would it just be best to put a push start button or can some one point me to the neutral safety switch wires and what to do with them

oh yeah the codes are for the cam shaft sensor it was not pluged in

Neutral saftey switch is mounted on the tranny. Im going to look up exactly when I get a chance and post a link to the picture.

with the push start, you will still need the safety swich thing cleared up. thats what it sounds like the problem would be. a push start you are just using instead of a key, witch meand you still have to have your foot on that clutch pedal to start it.... also if you decide to do a push start, you have to decide wether you want the key or not, i did mine to where i still need the key to turn on the the push start button.(if you push it without key, nothing happens, and if you turn key all the way to crank, nothing happens...

OK so the neutral safety switch is 1 of the 4 plugs that goes to the auto trans right??? if so what do i do just cut the end of one of the plugs and tie the wires to together??? and also i have 4 plugs 2 of them have a 3 pin plug and the other 2 have a 2 pin plug. any idea on what one is the neutral safety switch. below is the 4 plugs

and i found i can jump the starter with a screw driver so did
also i did a compression test today and 1 and 2 cyl has 155 and 3 and 4 have 180 is this normal

OK i got the neutral safety switch fixed. but it still will not start... i have no spark at the plug so i took and did an exchange on my msd coil pack at plug wires this morning still no luck. i have all new relays new map sensor new air meter sensor.. i check and made sure the crank sensor was good and tight.. also the same with the cam and water temp sensor i am just about to give up????

any ideas would be great

dude i think to when you put it the tranny you move the time so check the timing belt check it because that problem happen sometimes i told you for experience im worker from sisbarro especialist on imports cars only mitsubishi

i got the neutral safety switch fixed i tied it in to the reverse gear like i was told.

but that would not stop it from starting anyway would it????

if it would i will email the guy back from 2gnt and make sure i got it right.

he told me to hook up the black/white and the the red and told me to leave the yellow/back alone is that right?

and the codes was #11 and that was the camshaft sensor it was not plugged in as stated in one of the posts above

i really need some help. i have check the timing 3 times before i put the crank pulley back on. and if i don't find out what is wrong soon i will check it again but i will have to go rent the tool again to remove the crank pulley.

finely got tonight one of the wires going to the relay was broke so i finally got to hear my car run for the first time since the rebuild and auto to manual swap :hellyeah:

well it was runing great i hit mid 4 gear at 115 and still pulling bt i was not really stomping on it with the new motor and clutch. then i slowed down to go around a carve and it just shut off. i think the ecu went out. so i pulled the motor back out and put it in my 97 auto eclipse last night and it cranked right up but it has a bad vac leak but i will fix it to day. hope to be back on the road soon :hellyeah:
