Hi y'all, I got a brand new spoiler for my Eclipse which I am trying to put in, but I can not for the life of me remove the side parts of the spoiler. I took out the 2 screws on the side, and found the little white part that goes through the chassis, but I can't find how to get it out. I tried pulling, pushing, basically everything short of jamming a screwdriver in there (not stupid enough, sadly.). Does anyone have any tips for how to get it out???

I have a Spyder with the low spoiler. I don't know if yours is the same or not. For mine, I just had to remove the two screws on the side. The spoiler end fits onto a bracket that is attached to the body. There is a sponge gasket that fits between the spoiler end and the body. Mine was caked with dirt and grime, which acted like a glue. I worked mine back and forth a bit to loosen it, then with a little effort the spoiler cap popped right out.

Thank you! I do indeed have the same spoiler. The little white part that just popped out for you seems to be insanely stuck for me, I pulled hard earlier and slightly cracked the whole spoiler. I have no idea what's keeping it in this much.

Not sure. It's possible the spoiler became loose and someone used glue or something else to keep it in place. I was able to remove the plastic cover in the trunk that gives access to the lights, and feel up under the body where the bracket and pop retainer are. Perhaps you can use a pair of pliers or wire cutters to compress or deform the white pop retainer enough to get the cap off. The white retainer can be replaced with a similar one found at Autozone, Advance, etc. in their body aisle.

That's what I've been doing, with the pliers, but no luck sadly. I didn't want to break them, just so I can give the spoiler to someone who needs it. I think I will have to f*** around with some fishing wire maybe to try and get all the gunk out?

There is typically tape holding it to the body to prevent leaves and dirt getting in there, typically the sun dries this out and I have leaves or dirt stuck in there.

Try lubricating around the spoiler with goo gone or adhesive remover, or lubricant. Then use a credit card, gift card, or guitar pick to try to get between the body and the spoiler .

Thanks, I'll try that! So I should add tape when reinstalling my new spoiler too? Will any kind do or should I get some specific kind?

Technically it’s a “felt tape” or basically a soft edge of the spoiler so it doesn’t scratch the paint and dirt doesn’t get under it.

Yes I do recommend putting another weatherstripping gasket tape around the edge so that leaves and dirt do not collect under the spoiler and start causing rust and rot on the body

You wouldn't happen to have a recommendation for a product, would you? I live in the EU and just even translating this will probably lead to me buying something completely wrong, everything is called something different here :coy:
