This is the Build Thread for 95 mitsubishi eclipse GSX. Reply below.

sooo i think i have a problem or an itch i cant decide soo im currently building the motor for my tsi a whole other build i got going on and i came across this 95 gsx, clean title but needed a motor for $1500.and bonus im in californa so luckily my cars dont have rust.(only thing i can thank this state for) and has everything except the head and i just think to myself well i have enough to build another motor so why not cause i really wanted the awd. and i like cars that keep me busy. i have no back story on the car besides they guy had multiple of these and the motor grenades a rod through the piston. and is toast will post pics in the am of this cause i know yall wanna see it. but now i have 3 motors and 2 2g dsm’s and everything is still broken but more update on this one as well as the talon are to come!

a little update I got the motor pulled out of my 95 talon and swapped into the GSX about a week ago now im fighting little gremlins in this car due what is probably the previous owner dogging the hell outta this car. just changed all the fluids in the diff and t case and it was horrible, but she runs and drives next I have to do is tie rods and the rear bushings need to be done

LOL, I'm doing the opposite, pulled parts from my GSX to put in my TSI AWD 😆

Good to hear you got it running. I have to drain my gas tank and put some fresh gas in, and then procure a battery ... hopefully then mine'll start too!
crazy how we all pick in choose which one is the best candidate for the road id have loved to keep the tsi going but it was 300k and just about everything rubber on it was shot, my gsx only has 183k and so much more potential i think even though i find myself grabbing more parts off the tsi

For reals though! I picked the talon because I *suspect* that all it needed was the turbo replaced. Long story, but I've already redone the top end on it, and the GSX overheated on me - the water pump must have sprung a leak because it was all empty when I was driving home from work one day. Since then just sitting the clutch has gone out - I haven't investigated much, just know the pedal goes to the floor, so the TSI was going to be less work of the two.

Nice! We should meet up sometime I know alot of dsmer's in this area as well.
always down to meet with more dsm guys in the norcal area

yeah i feel that, i got the gsx up and running and its cool but i have some minor coolant leak i think i know where its at just fining the time to fix it is hard LOL cause i know im going to have to rig something. (will post about it when i get into it with pics) but heyy if down the road you wanna part with the manual awd set up lmk, i also just swapped the dash from the tsi to the gsx soo happy with it

so heres some updates been behind on stuff but the gsx runs and im slowly cleaning it up
first off i finally got the motor in and did the balance shaft delete, i put it on some wheels i had laying around, the car didnt come with smog stuff (ca bs) so i figured that out installed the stuff from the talon, i still have to do my rear o2 sensor but that will be in time. car runs and has no check engine light so far and boost sounds healthy, my front bumper was cracked to shit, and i happen to find a oem one at a yard near by so i scooped that one up super stoked it came off an rs. and also in red! then i started on the interior the dash was cracked horribly, but luckily i had one in my talon that was not getting any use so i swapped that one over super happy about that. car didnt leak and after redoing oil pan for the third time its super minty and i prey i dont have to do that again but now i have a coolant leak near the water oump and i know its from the long bolt (my block is missing some part of the ear for the threads so gonna rig it up soon. also did new front control arms and need to still do tie rods which i have. thats kinda it for now i hope i can get better about posts

Soo been a minute but to update but a ton has happened and I’m got a write up or two I’m working on for my build and how it worked out doing things but let’s show some pics with some details

I’ve tried to document most things with pictures. It’s been a little over a year since I’ve had the gsx and boy has it come a long way. But no where near what I want yet

Okay sooo to catch yall up to speed I finished the dash swapped installed the red bumper, and then I really wanted to go manual awd.. so I did. And along the way from jul2024-Jan 25 I kinda went quiet and started collecting parts I also was getting prepared for my baby so cars took the back burner. I came across a Greddy 18g.. for $300 local and said why not, no supporting mods so I just set it on the shelf, I came across a 95-96 5speed awd trans for 500 in August just the trans he said it had 70k on it idk the likely hood but I didn’t care it jump started me hunting down parts for the swap, I planned on going 5speed first then turbo after I got better supporting mods. Then I picked up the tcase for $250 and a rear open diff with axles for $300, i grabbed all the rest mainly at my local yards from a 5speed car I know I’m cheap but it’s more fun for me and rewarding in a way also I wanted the fastest route to getting it done, I will be posting my write up with full details for my swap and what worked this is just to catch up to now. I ran into som Web Cams new and bought them along with som AEM trutime gears as I’m running the 95-95 cas I just collected parts til Jan this year anticipating the build I also decided to go ecmlinkV3 this I bought from them as I had an eprom. I didn’t skip on the management. Ohhh and I grabbed a pos 16g for the 7cm^2 housing cause I didn’t wanna use the Greddy 8cm^2 housing.

Next my red bumper wasn’t doing it and I rocked a ugly white oem bumper (I’m now back it red) and took her for one last drive auto, auto is fun but I’m a street car guy and I missed the 5 speed.. ohhh my daughter was born Nov 30 so December and most of January my gsx was on the back burner, no to mention my other 4 projects, still though I collected parts even picked up a evo9 lsd.. for that open diff I had. Bought some Megan coil overs along the way and some evo 9 injectors for the low! I then sourced some parts from a few members on here rear diff bushing.. from Germany, an intermidiate shaft/bearing , used lc2 wideband, trans mount brackets.. hard to find stuff.. then February came and it was time to lock in, the wife went to the Midwest for a week with the kids and I had a garage to myself… time to get it
