will a 5speed trans out of a 95 gsx work in a 97 gsx? doin a auto to manual swap in the 97

Yes they will physically bolt up but the output ratios are different, so no you can't just swap the trannies. If you want to run the 95 tranny, get the matching 95 transfercase & you'll be fine.

95-96 tranny/transfercase are a matching pair
97-99 tranny/transfercase are a matching pair

You can also use a 1g 23 spline transfer case with the 95/96 transmission.
