Okay, I'm pretty new to my car, and after having it looked at by a buddy of mine, I know what needs fixed now. My valve cover gasket needs replaced, as well as my oil pan gasket. I am having him replace my fuel filter since I don't knwo when that was changed last, my transmission fluid, and re-wiring my defroster for my rear hatch. The only thing I need help with here is my flex-pipe. He said that it is torn, and that is where my exhaust leak is coming from. I don't know what size flex pipe I need. I have searched on here for some information, but it is either too vague or not specific to my car. As I said it is a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST, damn near stock everything, and these are my only real problems.
Please help me find the felx pipe I need. I don't have much money to spend, as a matter of fact I'm not even paying for the labor, I'm trading detailing and computer work for his mechanical skills.
Thanks in advance.

RRE also carries flex pipes, but being your exhaust is stock it will not bennefit you to go to a 2.5" flex section. Also the leak after your turbo will not hurt performance, but it also is not good to have hot exhaust gases blowing on the oil pan. So the question is, if I replace my flex section is the exisiting old pipe even able to be welded? If no, then maybe save for a little bit and purchase a cheaper RNR turbo back.

Also congrats and welcome to the DSM world. Do you happen to know when the timing belt, tensioner, and pulleys (including crank pulley) were replaced? Keep an eye on these things with these cars. Happy modding.

You can also go to just about any muffler shop and they should have/or be able to order a flex section and they can weld it on for you.

Call a few up and see what they can do.

This is the best route.

Well, I am going to get the labor done for free, so going to a muffler $hop is out of my price range right now. I have a custom made exhaust, but it is cat-back. That is the only real mod done to the car, not even free mods, aside from the K&N air filter. So what is the size of the felx pipe that I need?
Thanks for the responses guys.

But if the flex section is leaking, you're still going to need to get a new flex section to get it fixed. Even if you're getting the labor/welding for free/trade, the price for just a flex section will probably be cheaper at a muffler shop if you just call around.

Or if price is such a critical factor, just hit some local junk yards for the downpipe. I did this for the galant, think I paid like $30, and the downpipe has been on the car for over a year now.

Nothing says "upgrade" like a broken part.

:thumb: My T-25 went September 2004. Could have fixed it back to stock for probably $1000-$1500. I had this same thought and about $7500 later, I have upgrades and a practically fresh car out of the deal...money well spent IMO.

And before someone says I spent too much for my mod list, remember it's a DSM...what appears to be a $3500 job, quickly turns out to be $7500 after this, that, and the other things that needs to be taken care of while you're in there.

Now if you ask my wife if it was such a good deal.......:notgood:
