i have a 95 gsx with one hell of a wire mess. went through the harness finding tons of broken wires and pigtails with no homes(or i havent found a home for them yet) decided to pull the ecu and noticed it is a used ecu out of a 96 gsx. Now i know the 95s have a eprom ecu. but the 96-99 im not to sure about. Are the maps different from 95 to 96-99. if someone can give me some insight on this. im already planning on replacing the harness due to the million broken wires, added wires, and wires i have no clue what or where they go. As for the ecu im planning on looking for a 95 eprom for dsm link. a little help would be nice. i think i just aged about 30 years in the last 2 days trying to figure all this out LOL. i hate wiring haha. thanks in advance

Not all '95s have an EPROM, but using a '96 in a '95 should cause no problems. There were no major tuning differences throughout the second generation, and the differences in ECU inputs didn't come until '97.

alright. thats good to know. so im either facing sending my ecu out to get it socketed or buying one from a 95-96 gsx. am i right about that?

No, if you have a '96 ECU you'd need to have it converted and socketed (if they still do conversions? I don't know), if you wanted to buy an EPROM ECU to begin with you'd need a to find a specific ECU from a '95.
