Hi everyone. I'm a lurker and in the process of piecing together a turbo for my 95 Talon ESi. I was looking at missing link and seen one post here while searching that 95s do not need missing link. Is this true? I'm only going to be running ~7.25psi.

Also I remember seeing that someone here (I believe) made them for cheap. Is this the right place because I was trying to find it and was unsuccessful.

Thanks!

'95's should not require a missing link or FCD.

Sweet deal.

wait.... I never knew that LOL. I've got a 95, using a missing link, and my car breaks up at random times when I hit boost. Should I take the ML off and try running without it to see if it's smooth again?

Well Chris as far as I hear 95's dont need missing links or fcd's. If for some reason your 95 does need one, you should get a FCD. There much more reliable, talk to Paul he will hook you up with one.
Edit: Yes, Chris I would.

I'll take it off after work today and see if the stuttery-ness goes away.

Doesn't matter much though because I'm planning on getting MSnS soon anyway.

Ive got the same problem as chris , i have a 98 eclipse tho , its seems like fuel cut when i get boost but its around 4k rpms do u guys think i need a FCD, if so who is paul and how do i get one. thanks in advance

Oh and should the missing link have a vacuum leak out the hole in the side, should it have a filter? when i plug mine off it feels better when i give it gas but if i give it to much the engine dies?.... any ideas?

How the missing link works, I am not too sure about, I think (dont quote me) but I believe it just vents off the boost pressure so the MAP doesnt read it. Alot of people have this complaint.
And most people answer it by saying get a FCD, so ya talk to Paul, hes like 4 posts above or so.

Or just go to symtechlabs.com, thats where he will direct you anyway. I belive its $50 for their FCD.

I notice it usually when I'm building boost, but only at partial throttle. Like gently bring the RPM up to 4k or so and then roll into the boost, sometimes it jerks or stutters before it pulls hard. Or sometimes if I'm at maybe 75% throttle, but over 4-5k RPM and in boost, it might hesitate or stumble for a second. I don't like it at all. Don't know if it's the missing link, or the SFMU, or what.

Anyone ever use an AOBE .. ITs what the dodge guys use.. Costs like $5 in parts to make from radio shack...

Do you have a wideband Chris? If not then I would say that should be your next investment.

Edit: /\
| Above post, looks like a FCD, it taps into the map wires and clamps the voltage. (Thats what it seems like the picture is saying it does), which is the same thing a FCD does.

the FMU raises your fuel pressure.

the missing link OR FCD deal with a sensor signal to the ECU, something completely different.

For a basic turbo set-up you need the FMU, preferably 255lph hp fuel pump, and most people go with the FCD. You dont use the FCD and Missing Link together. Those two things accomplish the same thing. VelocitaPaola (Paul) is the one to talk to about the FCD.

Diode-diode-pot FCD's have been around for a long time. They're very low tech; a quick and dirty method of voltage clamping. The best FCD's employ an active voltage clamp circuit, preferably with a little buffering and things like over-voltage protection.

when i started out on my 95, i bought a missng link for it and tryed that out, that made the car run like crap so then i heard that you couldnt do the ML on the 95, so i got a FCD off a friend and it runs like a champ now.

Probably because you really shouldn't be partial-throttle boosting on a 420a with anything but MSnS.
