The shifter cable that goes to the tranny on my 1990 awd talon broke so now my shifter won't go into 2nd gear. I have extra cables but they are from a 1993 Talon. I know that the 90s are a little different because they have different brackets but can the actual cables be swapped?

I have a 90 transmission in my car and it's a 92 that had a 7bolt in it. My car works fine so I don't see why yours wouldn't. Might be different cause of the AWD.

cables should be fine, but the bracket is diffrent on 90's from 93's. Although I wanna say that the shift cables on 90's, both can be adjusted at the shifter but on 93's only the side to side cable can be adjusted.

i have a 93 tranny on my 90. You have to switch over the bracket on the tranny. I'm using 90 shift cables and they are all bent weird. I can shift, just not precise and its sloppy. I have to hit the boneyard and get the bracket for the cable and get new 91-94 shfit cables to go wit my new short throw shifter. Then, it will be awesome.
