I recently switched to a 98 ecu using ecuflash and ceddy mods. my car being a 96 gets the usual vibrations but no knock, the plug wires are switched and so are the injectors as per RRE. i was wondering if a 92 cas will bolt up to my 96 head, are the bosses with threads there?, also if i need to swap my 92 cam into the head for the tabs on the cas to line up would that fit ( i am assuming yes since cams are sold without specific years except 98,99 that has a threded end of the cam) i could look my self but my car is 4 hours away. I do not really want to switch the 6 bolt head since its going on my 2.3L 6 bolt thats in the works, i just want the car running for the summer.

thanks ahead

they r the same but the connectors are different, your gonna have to splice wires. Just line up the mark on the cam angle sensor with the white mark on the intake cam gear. Splice the wires in, and you are ready to go. Solder the short wires onto the engine harness with crimp connectors at the other ends of them. Cut off the connector for the cam sensor and a length of wire after it. Crimp on some connectors and it is all set.

The CAS are completely different in a 95,96, a 96 uses a cas under the intake gear and a crank angle sensor aswell, my concern more or less being able to physically bolt the 92 Cas to the head (green top for now) wiring is not an issue there are plenty of harnesses and diagrams out there.

remove valve cover

look where cas goes

remove seal thingymajig

cam already slotted

clean stuff

Install valve cover

Install cas

bolts in middle of cas slots to start

Get timing light and call it a day

so the answer to my question is yes the bosses are there and yes they are tapped to accept the earlies CAS even though they changed the head on the 2g and didn't use a cas on the flywheel side untill 98. just had to clarify this incase anyone else is wondering when putting a 98,99 ecu in a 95,96 chassis with stock motor. i will have to confirm this for sure when i get back to the garage in april.
