92' Talon TSi stage rally car

A 92' talon tsi awd rally car.

I installed new NGK plugs and wires today and found out the car has spark plug thread inserts from where someone probably screwed up 20 years ago. I also installed OMP pedal plates. I am in the process of making the seat mounts wider for a much larger seat.

I also have something in mind for a livery...

Working with a friend who has a vinyl cutter and printer. Just trying to work out sizing and exact shapes right now, since the map I have below is for a st185 celica gt4. I ripped it from assetto corsa and recolored it. it also needs some cleaning up as you can tell.

quite a while I know. Things have happened, and I haven't really been able to do much to it, but recently I've started the project back up.
Some things I did while piddling in its downtime
Innovate MTX-L wideband
ECMLINK, ecu converted to EPROM
WOLO animal house horn
New tie rod ends
painted valve cover
So yeah, not much in terms of parts. I had a mysterious, intermittent leak that I couldn't diagnose. What was it? The front left CV axle, more specifically, the axle carrier bearing bracket bolts, WERE BOTH BROKEN OFF IN THE BLOCK. BOTH.

This let the axle slide out just enough for the splines to rest on the axle seal, not on the designated mating surface. Obviously, there isn't any room to put a bolt extractor on it, and I couldn't get a solid weld on due to the angle, so yeah, I had to pull the engine. I also found out that it has a Jay Racing alternator relocation kit. Cool.

Decided to refresh the whole engine while it was out. So far i have the head resurfaced and topline lifters on the way, new valve spring seats, and a gates waterpump. Picked up an exedy 3-puck clutch kit, IGM gasket kit with headgasket, Fidanza lwfw, and HKS valve springs second hand on FB market place (all new parts.)

also have a Conti timing belt kit that came with the car. Planning on installing this no-name tubular manifont and WG that came with the car as well.

Might remove it later depending on spool time and low-end torque. It will also certainly crack at somepoint.

So far planning on:
ACL race main and rod bearings
ARP head studs
New oil pump/front cover
New piston rings
Balance shaft delete
I would really love to get 2G pistons for the compression, but they need the rods bored, and forged pistons are really just too expensive. The budget is kinda tight, so I can't really justify spending what little of it i have on pistons i dont need. This car will need a 34MM turbo inlet restrictor, meaning i cant rely on boost as much as a normal build. The car has a small 16g, so im really not expecting more than 18~ PSI, hence higher comp would be very helpful. Thats all for now. More updates soon.

Parts are in.
ACL race rod and mains (STD size)
Gates water pump
Act oil pump/front cover
NPR piston rings
Nippon BSD
Top line lifters
GSC valve spring seats
Assembly is imminent.

Measured the mains Tonight (plastigauge), all were 038 dead on. I know this is pretty loose for OEM specs. Thinking about my options

Also took a part the old oil pump, and found 90' straight cut gears. :)

FSM is in inches, so you're at a hair under 0.0015". 0.0040" is the service limit.

Is it just me or does it look a little tapered to the outer edge?

I did not know the FSM was in inches. So .38/.15 is dead the recommended specs, correct? Might even benefit from oversize? Also, if you mean the plastigauge is tapered a bit, it is. They even tell you in the manual to take the measurements from the thickest part.
